Lumia smartphones see deep discounts from Verizon, T-Mobile and Amazon

Nokia’s (NOK) Lumia line of smartphones is now seeing post-holiday discounts at a variety of retailers shortly after launching in the United States. The phones, which run Microsoft’s (MSFT) Windows Phone 8 operating system, are the company’s latest gamble after a string of launches that were not well received. Verizon’s (VZ) Lumia 822 can now be had for free with a new two-year agreement, as can T-Mobile’s Lumia 810, while Amazon (AMZN) is offering the flagship Lumia 920 for $39 on AT&T (T). More →

Verizon unveils $99 Lumia 822 with wireless charging, 8-megapixel camera and 4G LTE

Verizon Wireless (VZ) on Monday announced that it will sell Nokia’s (NOK) Lumia 822 smartphone for $99 with a new two-year agreement. Nokia has only confirmed that the handset will be equipped with an 8-megapixel camera with a Carl Zeiss lens, a 1.2-megapixel front-facing camera and support for wireless charging through interchangeable covers. Earlier leaks suggested the Lumia 822 will also feature a dual-core Snapdragon S4 processor, 8GB of internal storage, a microSD slot, 1GB of RAM and a 4.3-inch display with a resolution of 800 x 400.
