Video: Nokia unveils its biggest Lumia phone yet

Nokia’s new Lumia 625 is not quite a “phablet” by today’s standards, though it would have been considered a phablet as recently as one year ago. It still represents Nokia’s largest Lumia phone to date, however, and it is now official. Nokia took the wraps off its new Lumia 625 on Tuesday and it will position the new handset as a remarkably affordable mid-range device. Spec highlights include a 4.7-inch WVGA display, A 1.2GHz Snapdragon S4 processor, 512GB of RAM, 8GB of memory, microSDXC support, 4G LTE and a 5-megapixel camera. The Lumia 625 will retail for €220 before any subsidies and it will debut in China, India and elsewhere in the coming months. No U.S. launch plans have been announced at this point. A video showcasing the Lumia 625 follows below. More →

Leaked images reveal Nokia’s first phablet, the Lumia 625

Nokia is reportedly prepping its first Lumia smartphone that falls into the “phablet” category — the Lumia 625 — and images revealing the handset have been published for the first time. Weibo user and industry insider C Technology found the images on the official TENNAA website, which belongs to a Chinese regulatory body similar to America’s FCC. According to the leak, the Lumia 625 will be a low-end phone with a 4.7-inch display that features a resolution of just 800 x 480 pixels, a dual-core 1GHz processor, a 5-megapixel camera, 512MB of RAM and a 2,000 mAh battery. Nokia will reportedly unveil the Lumia 625 in the coming weeks and it is expected to retail for approximately $325 with no subsidies. The images from TENNAA follow below. More →
