If you’re a Verizon Wireless customer or looking to become one, the carrier is offering two of its latest 4G LTE handsets, the LG Spectrum and HTC Rezound, for $99.99 each with a two-year agreement. Both handsets run a 1.5GHz dual-core processor and impressive qHD displays. When BGR reviewed the Rezound last November, we were impressed with the overall performance of the device and with the gorgeous high definition display in particular. It was recommended over Motorola’s DROID RAZR and Samsung’s Galaxy S II, although due to its lack of Ice Cream Sandwich it fell short compared to Samsung’s Galaxy Nexus. Subscribers will have until Monday, February 28th to take advantage of Verizon’s deals on the Rezound and Spectrum, which are only available online. More →
It’s been leaked seven ways to Sunday, but the LG Spectrum was just made official at LG’s press event at CES just moments ago. Verizon Wireless will be selling the 4G LTE smartphone on January 19th for $199. As far as specifications, the Spectrum will run Android 2.3 (no, we’re not joking, though Verizon says it’s upgradable to Android 4.0), features a 1.5GHz dual-core processor, 4.5-inch true HD IPS display (no PenTile, here), an 8 megapixel pixel camera with 1080p HD video capability around back, and a 1830mAh battery.
The Consumer Electronics show is always a massive event for the home entertainment industry, and 2012 is shaping up to be the biggest year yet. Hundreds of companies will showcase thousands of products, but among the companies that managed to generate some real buzz ahead of the show, LG really looks like it has some gems on its hands this year. The company previewed its new nearly borderless 55-inch OLED HDTV last week and it has a few Cinema Screen 3D models with just a 1-millimeter bezel surrounding its gorgeous display panels. LG surely has plenty more gear in store for us — including at least one smartphone and next-generation Google TV devices — so hit the break to watch all the action unfold in our live coverage. More →
An image and some purported specs for the LG Spectrum leaked recently, and the phone will reportedly soon launch on Verizon Wireless. According to Pocketnow, the handset will be very similar to AT&T’s LG Nitro HD smartphone complete with a 720p HD display, a 1.5GHz dual-core processor, an 8-megapixel camera and support for 4G LTE. The LG Spectrum also resembles the Nitro’s external appearance, although it looks like it has more rounded edges and a bit more texture on the back. A possible release date and pricing for the device are still unknown. More →
