T-Mobile G2x not being pulled; ‘high demand has resulted in inventory contraints’

After hearing some reports that the T-Mobile LG G2x was being pulled possibly for defects, we reached out to T-Mobile for comment. According to T-Mobile, that’s not the reason the phone has been so hard to find. Instead, the G2x has been so popular that there have been inventory constraints. Here’s the full statement we received from T-Mobile:

The T-Mobile G2x with Google has been a highly popular device with both customers and employees since its launch last month, and high demand has resulted in inventory constraints, which we are working with LG to address.

After spending some time with the T-Mobile G2x, we didn’t find any manufacturing defects or issues with the handset.

RadioShack offering T-Mobile LG G2X for $99 today

RadioShack has slashed the price of T-Moile’s LG G2x to just $99 for today only. The G2x is one of the hottest Android devices available and it rocks a dual-core NVIDIA Tegra 2 processor, 8 megapixel camera capable of recording 1080p HD video, and has a stunning 4-inch 800 x 480 pixel display. It’s even getting the latest Android 2.3 (Gingerbread) update soon. We fawned over the G2x even at its original $199 price point in our review, so if you’re a T-Mobile customer this is definitely a deal you’ll want to be taking advantage of. More →

T-Mobile G2x review

T-Mobile G2x review

LG hasn’t launched a high-end Android smartphone in the U.S. for some time now — sure, it shipped the Optimus on multiple carriers, and Verizon launched the Ally a few years back, but neither was capable of holding a candle to other first-rate devices. That all changes with the G2x however, which is no doubt LG’s answer to Samsung’s Galaxy S family of smartphones in the United States. Its spec sheet is enough to leave other phones shaking in their boots. Dual-core processor, 4G radio, 1080p video — it has all the trappings of a top-of-the-line handset. I have been using, abusing, and confusing the G2x for the past few days and am ready to levy judgement on LG’s first serious smartphone contender. Want to know if the T-Mobile G2x has what it takes to be your next high-end smartphone? Hit the jump to find out.

T-Mobile G2x now available online for $199.99

As of 12:00 a.m. Friday morning, T-Mobile’s latest flagship Android smartphone is ripe for the picking. Built by LG and powered by the mobile processor du jour — the familiar 1GHz dual-core NVIDIA Tegra 2 — the T-Mobile G2x features a 4-inch touchscreen display, an 8-megapixel camera, Android 2.2 (Froyo) and compatibility with T-Mobile’s 4G HSPA+ network. We’ve gone hands-on with the device, twice, and we were plenty impressed with the speed T-Mobile’s new powerhouse affords. The T-Mobile G2x is available immediately online for $199.99 with a new two-year agreement, and it will land on store shelves next Wednesday. T-Mobile G2x landing April 15th for $199.99, in stores April 20th

T-Mobile has confirmed that its G2x smartphone will be available online starting on April 15th, and in stores on April 20th, for $199.99 with a new two-year contract. The LG-built T-Mobile G2x was announced during CTIA 2011 in March and packs Android 2.2 (Froyo), a dual-core NVIDIA Tegra 2 chipset, an 8-megapixel camera and support for T-Mobile’s 4G HSPA+ network. When we had a chance to check out the device first-hand, we said the G2x could easily end up being one of our favorite handsets on T-Mobile, so we’re definitely looking forward to seeing the phone launch. Hands on with the T-Mobile G2x, again [video]

Hands on with the T-Mobile G2x, again [video]

T-Mobile’s G2x could shape up to be one of T-Mobile’s hottest smartphones when it launches, so we figured we’d swing by LG’s booth again to bring you a closer look at the G2x and its beefy hardware — this time on video. As we said in our initial hands-on, we found the G2x to be seriously fast thanks to the 1GHz dual-core  Nvidia Tegra 2 processor under the hood. But while the phone was fast, the plastic back felt a bit cheap and we wish there was more metal or texture to give it a more premium feel. Also, it’s going to launch with Android 2.2 (Froyo) instead of the newer Android 2.3 (Gingerbread) operating system, and that’s kind of a bummer. Alas, you can’t have everything. Hit the jump and check out our G2x video and don’t forget to stop by our photo gallery on the way there.

T-Mobile LG G2x Android smartphone hands-on

We just met up with T-Mobile during CTIA Wireless 2011 to check out the brand-spanking new T-Mobile G2x by LG, an Android 2.2 (Froyo) smartphone that packs a punch. Seriously, this puppy insanely quick thanks to its dual-core NVIDIA Tegra 2 processor. In our hands, applications literally felt like they were opening and closing instantly. T-Mobile’s 4G network helps matters too, of course, and the BGR.com homepage loaded up in just a few seconds. Hit the jump for some more hands-on impressions of the G2x and don’t forget to check out our full gallery of photos.
