Samsung Galaxy S III possibly revealed in leaked images

Images of an unannounced Samsung smartphone were published by Gizmodo Brasil on Wednesday evening, and they may reveal the South Korea-based vendor’s next flagship handset. The quality of the leaked images is very poor, but the basic look of the device can be made out along with the presence of a wide home button and a unique oval-shaped glass panel covering the display. Gizmodo Brasil’s source states that the model number of the phone is i9300 — which a BGR source has previously stated is indeed the model number of the Galaxy S III — and the device pictured reportedly features a 12-megapixel camera. The Galaxy S III is expected to feature a 4.8-inch 1080p HD Super AMOLED display, a quad-core 1.5GHz Exynos processor, 4G LTE, Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich and an ultra-thin case made of ceramic, and Samsung will likely announce the new flagship smartphone during a press conference on May 3rd. Another image of the handset follows below. More →

Image of Spotify’s official iPad app leaks, launch is ‘getting closer’

Image of Spotify’s official iPad app leaks, launch is ‘getting closer’

While Spotify offers a native iPhone app, the company still doesn’t offer one for Apple’s iPad. According to a photo recently published to the web, however, that may soon change. A Swedish technology consultant posted the first image of what is said to be a beta version of Spotify’s official iPad app. The image was posted on Instagram and it featured the caption, “It’s getting closer!” The image has since been removed, but not before it began to spread across various tech blogs. Spotify on Friday sent out press invitations for a special announcement event in New York City. Could the event be for an iPad app? Perhaps, although a press conference dedicated solely to an app seems unlikely. Earlier reports indicated that the music streaming company may announce brand partnerships that will allow app and playlist recommendations from companies in an effort to make the platform more attractive to advertisers. T-Mobile to raise prices of two unlimited data plans beginning April 4th

According to a purported T-Mobile memo obtained by TmoNews, the nation’s No.4 carrier may be looking to increase the price of its premium 5GB and ultra 10GB unlimited data packages. The change could go into effect as early as April 4th and would add an additional $5 to the cost each plan. The 5GB plan will jump from $35 to $40 per month and the 10GB plan will increase from $65 to $70. T-Mobile’s Value Plan pricing will remain unchanged. The premium and ultra plan increases will only apply to customers who sign up for service after the effective date, however. The price increase comes as the carrier is looking to restructure and in doing so, will also cut 5% of its workforce and close seven call centers over the next three months. A second leaked T-Mobile image can be found after the break. More →

Is this the Samsung Galaxy S III?

By on March 21, 2012 at 8:25 AM.

Is this the Samsung Galaxy S III?

Samsung’s highly anticipated next-generation flagship smartphone has reportedly been pictured. Dutch mobile blog GSM Helpdesk on Wednesday published what it claims to be an official press photo of the Samsung Galaxy S III, obtained from an unnamed source. The site also reasserts a wide range of specs exclusively reported by BGR over the past few months, including a full HD Super AMOLED display, Android 4.0 with Samsung’s TouchWiz UI and a 1.5GHz quad-core processor. The device pictured is in line with previously leaked renders, though we can now see that Samsung appears to have opted for capacitive hardware buttons in place of the on-screen navigation buttons seen in other Android 4.0 builds. A potential date for Samsung’s announcement has been reaffirmed as well; the weather in London and the Unpacked Event calendar entry pictured on the home screen point to a May 22nd press conference in London. Leaked image may reveal Motorola’s upcoming DROID Fighter

The first image of what is believed to be the unannounced DROID Fighter has surfaced on Chinese forum PhoneHK. The handset is said to be equipped with the same massive 3,300 mAh battery that is found in the RAZR MAXX and a 4.6-inch high-definition display. The image of the phone also shows that the Android navigation buttons common to earlier RAZR models is absent, leading us to believe that the Fighter will use the on-screen buttons found in Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. Details surrounding the smartphone are limited and it isn’t clear if this will be a completely new device or another RAZR variant — though the latter seems more likely. The Fighter is rumored to land on Verizon’s 4G LTE network on April 12th. More →

Sprint iPad reportedly appears in Best Buy inventory system

At launch, AT&T and Verizon will be the exclusive carriers of the new 4G-enabled iPad in the United States. In the spring, however, Sprint will also be launching its own 4G LTE network. With the carrier already selling Apple’s flagship smartphone, users were shocked to see the Cupertino-based company shun its new partner’s network — but this may not be the case. According to images obtained by Engadget, Sprint iPad models have begun to show up in Best Buy’s inventory system. Nothing is confirmed at this point, but it is possible that a Sprint iPad could launch around the same time as the carrier’s first batch of 4G LTE smartphones. A second image of Best Buy’s system can be seen after the break. More →
