Sony Ericsson Xperia X8 user manual outed by FCC

Sony Ericsson Xperia X8 user manual outed by FCC

Thanks to the FCC, the user manual for the Sony Ericsson Xperia X8 has hit the interwebs. The device, which was first announced back in June, packs a 3″ HVGA display, 3.2 megapixel camera, A-GPS, Wi-Fi, 128 MB of internal memory, 600 MHz processor, and Android 1.6 with SE’s UX UI. The device has the 850 MHz and 1900 MHz 3G HSPA bands, which makes AT&T a likely landing spot for this little number. However, we’re starting to wonder how many mid-level Android devices can fit into AT&T’s smartphone portfolio. The PDF is live on the FCC’s website and can be downloaded directly using this link. Xbox 360 and Red Dead Redemption take top seat in June gaming sales

Xbox 360 and Red Dead Redemption take top seat in June gaming sales

Red_Dead_Redemption

June was a topsy turvy month for gaming sales according to NPD, as overall sales were down 6% year-over-year but up significantly from May. Leading the way for June was the Xbox 360 which sold 451,700 units, which more than doubled its May sales of a measly 194,000 units. Hot on the heels of the Xbox was the Nintendo Wii which sold 422,500 units and the PlayStation 3 which sold 304,800 units. June was also a good month for hardware and accessory sales, as hardware sales were up 5% year-over-year and and accessory sales were up 6% year-over-year. Though console and accessory sales were brisk, software sales declined 15% from last year, with Red Dead Redemption as the one bright spot in an otherwise disappointing month. In its second month of sales, the popular title from Rockstar continues to be very well received with the Xbox 360 and PS3 versions taking two of the top three slots for the best selling software titles in June. HTC Wildfire headed to T-Mobile UK on June 14th

htc-wildfire-tmobile-uk

The HTC Wildfire is receiving a glowing reception in the UK. Confirmed to be landing on Virgin UK, the mid-level Android handset is also slated to launch on T-Mobile UK. The Wildfire has been added to T-Mobile’s coming soon section of its website and a recent tweet suggests the handset may drop as soon as June 14th. This date seems a bit premature considering that HTC stated the handset would launch in Q3 2010 which traditionally begins in July, but who can argue with information disseminated via Twitter.

BlackBerry Bold 9800 slider launching in June at AT&T

BlackBerry Bold 9800 slider launching in June at AT&T

While June has usually been strictly roped off as “iPhone month” for AT&T, this year looks like it will be different. A couple of our RIM sources have informed us that the BlackBerry Bold 9800 slider will be making its public debut in June on AT&T. Those dates can slip a bit, but middle to end of June does seem to be what we are hearing. Also, we have confirmed that AT&T has placed an incredibly big order of the new handset, easily exceeding 1,000,000 units. AT&T will have an exclusive on the device (we have not confirmed the length — 3 months, 6 months, etc.) and it will obviously launch with the BlackBerry 6 operating system. If you are a CDMA lover, look for Sprint to get the device in Q4 of this year.

Adobe to rollout Flash 10.1 to Android in June

Adobe to rollout Flash 10.1 to Android in June

android_flash

As expected, the verbal volleying between Adobe and Apple continues with Adobe again defending its Flash technology. Late Thursday afternoon, Abobe CTO Kevin Lynch posted a brief and pointed response to Steve Jobs’ recent essay which explained the reasons why Apple is turning its back on Flash. The most interesting part of Lynch’s post is the revelation that Adobe plans to roll out Flash 10.1 to Android starting in June. Lynch failed to provide details on which handsets will receive Flash, but we can definitely expect it to hit the DROID, DROID Incredible and Nexus One. Based upon Andy Rubin’s comments earlier this week regarding Froyo, we can also expect that this Flash update will be rolled out as part of the bigger Android 2.2 update. Anyone excited? More →
