Apple may launch 3G iPod touch in September, rumor claims

A Dutch Apple blog named AppleSpot reported on Friday that Apple will launch a new 3G iPod touch in September. Similar to options available for the iPad Wi-Fi + 3G, users would have the option of purchasing the 3G iPod touch directly from a wireless carrier with a data plan. We’re expecting a possible iPod/iPhone/iPad refresh in September, and so it’s entirely possible that Apple is considering creating a version with a 3G radio. Such a device could also help carriers lock in more data plans and would continue to boost Apple’s presence among the flood of new Android handsets. Our only gripe with the whole story is that AppleSpot doesn’t have a proven track record reporting on Apple rumors. Plus, a 3G iPod touch would be just a little weird given that we expect every major U.S. wireless carrier to announce the next generation iPhone. More →

Hulu Plus gets official: $9.99 per month, supports iOS, TVs, Blu-ray players, and more

hulu-plus

Announced earlier today after months of speculation, Hulu Plus has finally become official. For $9.99 per month, subscribers will be able to watch their favorite shows — including those from seasons past — on a multitude of internet-connected devices. Mobile devices are a go, with iOS devices including the iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, iPad, and iPod touch (3rd generation) being the main attraction at this point in time. The best part as far as mobile is concerned is that streaming will work on both Wi-Fi and 3G networks. Several internet-connected HDTVs and Blu-ray players from Samsung already have support for the streaming service, and later on in the year, both Sony and Vizio will introduce support in some of their sets ad Blu-ray players. The PlayStation 3 will support the service “soon”, while the Xbox 360 will play nice come 2011. Hulu Plus will officially launch is July, but if you’re lucky you might just be able snag a preview invite. More →

cydia-logo-GOOD

Short and sweet was the amount of time it took the iPhone Dev-Team to jailbreak iOS 4, at least as far the previous generation of Apple iHardware is concerned. Adding to yesterday’s release of redsn0w beta, PwnageTool 4.0 was set free this afternoon and promises to jailbreak/hacktivate devices provided a specific set of criteria are met. If you want to get really fancy, you can also use a special version of ultrasn0w to unlock your iPhone, but again, this is dependant upon certain things being just so. We’ve got everything you’ll need to get the job done queued up, so don’t be afraid to hit up the jump get get started. Happy jailbreaking!
