iOS 7 Gold Master full change log now available

You know the drill: Apple just released the iOS 7 Gold Master build to developers and this is the final build of Apple’s iOS 7 software identical to the version that will be made available to the public next week. The iOS 7 GM is compatible with the iPhone 5, iPhone 4S, iPhone 4, iPad (third and fourth generations), iPad mini and iPod touch (fourth and fifth generations) models, and the OS download files are now available on Apple’s developer portal. Along with them, as always, is Apple’s change log for this latest release, a copy of which was just provided to BGR. iOS 7 GM will be the last non-public iOS build Apple releases before iOS 7 is made available to the public next week ahead of the iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C launches. iOS 7 Gold Master now available for download

Apple clearly went off course with its iOS 7 beta release schedule. First a massive security breach forced Apple’s developer center offline for a week, which obviously pushed things back a bit. Then, Apple surprised us all when it rushed out iOS 7 beta 6 on a Thursday evening to release a big bug fix for iTunes in the Cloud. That ended up being the last beta release for developers despite the fact that a newer build was made available to partners three weeks ago. Now, the iOS 7 Gold Master build has been made available to developers and is compatible with listed iPhone, iPad, iPad mini and iPod touch models. This is the final version of iOS 7 that and is identical to the version that will be released to the public next week ahead of Apple’s new iPhone launches. More →

Apple unveils iPhone 5S: The biggest ‘S’ update in iPhone history is finally here

After months of speculation, rumors and leaks, Apple on Tuesday finally unveiled its next-generation iPhone 5S. Largely in line with the dozens of reports that have surfaced recently, the brand new flagship iPhone features an external design that is nearly identical to the current iPhone 5 and is comprised entirely of aluminum and glass. The home button has undergone some design changes, however, as has the back of the phone to accommodate the camera’s new dual-LED flash. While the outside of the handset remains largely unchanged, the inside is an entirely different story. More →

Apple announces iPhone 5C in bid to battle Android at lower price points

Apple’s iPhone lineup is the most popular smartphone line on the planet but Android’s overall volume lead continues to grow, thanks in large part to dirt-cheap smartphones selling in droves in emerging markets. While Apple has no plans to do battle in the sub-$100 price range, of course, the company on Tuesday unveiled the brand new iPhone 5C in an effort to stir up some excitement at the mid-range price level. The 16GB iPhone 5C will cost $99 with a two-year carrier service agreement while the 32GB 5C will cost $199 with a two-year contract. Without a contract, the 16GB iPhone 5C will sell for $550 and the 32GB 5C will sell for $650. More →

Apple’s big iPhone 5S event now underway: First up, state of the Apple union

Apple’s highly anticipated iPhone event is finally underway in Cupertino, California. We’re expecting an action-packed press conference that will include the highly anticipated iPhone 5S and the new lower-cost iPhone 5C, but Apple began today’s show in typical fashion by rattling off some key figures. After discussing Apple’s seventh annual iTunes festival that just kicked off, CEO Tim Cook got the show rolling by discussing Apple’s retail operations. Apple recently opened a small store in Stanford, California and it has already served more than 5 million customers, Cook said. He also noted that Apple will soon ship its 700 millionth iOS device.
