There’s no turning back from iOS 8 if you upgrade from iOS 7.1.2

Now that the iOS 8.0.1 fiasco has been resolved, Apple is looking to move forward with its latest mobile platform. In order to do so, Apple has stopped signing the iOS 7.1.2 firmware, which means that it is no longer possible to downgrade from iOS 8 once you have installed the update. If you’re still unsure about iOS 8 and have yet to pull the trigger, be aware that there’s now no turning back once you do. More →

Apple released iOS 8 last week, and while the operating system brings several interesting features to iPhone and iPad, some users may simply not be thrilled by the new OS, especially those iPhone 4S and iPad 2 owners that might not enjoy iOS 8 on their older devices. Luckily, OS X Daily reports that, for a limited time, people will be able to downgrade back to iOS 7.1.2, the version that was previously installed on their devices. More →

The latest untethered jailbreak is already compatible with iOS 7.1.2

Just over an hour after Apple seeded iOS 7.1.2 to the public, 9to5Mac confirmed that the Pangu untethered jailbreak originally released for iOS 7.1.1 still works on iOS devices. The jailbreak was released after Apple had already begun seeding the 7.1.1 update to carriers, so the chance that the company would have been able to combat a jailbreak in the interim was unlikely anyway. Apple is preparing to release iOS 7.1.2, likely to fix two major bugs

It won’t be much longer before Apple unveils iOS 8 but the company is still going to push out one last update to iOS 7.1 that will likely fix two critical bugs. MacRumors has noticed a distinct uptick in traffic coming from devices that run on an unreleased build called iOS 7.1.2 that it speculates will be used to patch bugs related to email encryption and text messages that don’t get delivered to former iPhone users who have switched to Android, Windows Phone or another mobile OS.
