Verizon's Samsung Fascinate fitted with Froyo

Fascinate owners, the day hath finally cometh. Verizon Wireless has announced that its iteration of Samsung’s original Galaxy S handset, known as the Fascinate, will be updated to Froyo (Android 2.2). Documentation indicates that the code bump — labeled i500.ED01 — will bring support for Flash 10.1, improve JavaScript performance, and pack a handful of other small tweaks. Nokia opens Ovi Suite 3.0 beta to the public

Late yesterday, Nokia announced the availability of a public beta for its new software synchronization suite, Ovi 3.0. The new Ovi has been in private testing for the past several months and Nokia is promising improved “stability, syncing and the experience with downloading maps.”

“We have been working hard to improve the quality of Nokia Ovi Suite,” reads the press release. “We have also introduced a new Home view, and integrated our music experience with the millions of tracks available on Ovi Music even more closely to Nokia Ovi Suite.”

The company is looking for users to download the new bits onto their computers and provide feedback. If you’re a Symbian user, why don’t you just go right ahead and oblige them. iPhone 3G performance with iOS 4.2: much improved

iPhone 3G owners have had a rough time lately. First, they missed out on some of the best new features iOS 4 had to offer. Then, the watered down version of iOS 4 they finally got their hands on slowed performance to a near-crawl in most cases. But don’t worry, iPhone 3G owners, some long overdue good news is finally coming your way… iOS 4.2 will bring much needed performance improvements when it finally reaches consumers. Using the Gold Master build of the software, TiPb was nice enough to give us all an early taste of the new OS version on video. As you can see very clearly, the phone shows marked improvements compared to the latest public OS build. In fact, it’s almost on par with iOS 3 on the iPhone 3G.
