Sprint rumored to launch HTC One X on June 10th

The Samsung Galaxy Nexus and LG Viper will be the first 4G handsets to launch on Sprint’s upcoming LTE network in the second quarter, but a new report suggests the carrier will follow the phones up with a flagship launch early this summer. S4GRU on Sunday reports that a smartphone code-named the HTC Jet will hit store shelves on June 10th, nearly two years after Sprint’s iconic HTC EVO 4G launched as the carrier’s first WiMAX-enabled smartphone. According to the site, the Jet is in fact HTC’s new One X smartphone, the stunning Ice Cream Sandwich-powered flagship handset that HTC unveiled at Mobile World Congress in February. While the global version of this smartphone will be powered by a quad-core Tegra 3 processor, S4GRU reports that Sprint’s version will include a dual-core Snapdragon S4 like the variant AT&T is preparing to launch next month. The site also reports that the Galaxy Nexus and LG Viper will both become available on April 15th. More →

HTC sees negative smartphone sales trend reversing thanks to HTC One phones

HTC is confident the company’s new One series smartphones will rescue the company from slowing sales, propelling it to the No.5 smartphone vendor spot and beyond. “We are confident this year will be … a much better year,” HTC’s chief of European operations Florian Seiche said to Reuters. “Even with the Q1 not being the ideal fast start right out of the gate in January, which of course we would have preferred, even with that we are very confident.” During the company’s Mobile World Congress 2012 press event, the Taiwanese smartphone maker announced the HTC One series. The first three HTC One phones focus on three main pillars, amazing design and user experience, an amazing camera, and an amazing multimedia experience. HTC feels these key components will combine to reignite consumer interest in its smartphones, and early response has been very positive. More →

AT&T’s HTC One X uses a dual-core CPU instead of a quad-core Tegra 3

On Sunday, HTC announced the One X at the company’s Mobile World Congress 2012 press conference. The handset features a quad-core 1.5GHz NVIDIA Tegra 3 processor, a beautiful 4.6-inch 1,280 x 720-pixel high-definition Super LCD2 display, an amazing 8-megapixel rear camera, a 1.3-megapixel front facing camera, 1GB of RAM, 32GB of internal storage, Beats Audio and Sense 4 atop Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. During our hands-on time with the device the quad-core Tegra 3 processor was an absolute monster, and it helped the One X zip around ICS with no lag whatsoever. The One X is set to arrive on AT&T’s 4G LTE network by the end of April, however it will not include NVIDIA’s Tegra 3 chipset when it does. Instead, it will sport a dual-core Snapdragon S4 processor. As for the cause of the down-grade, the Tegra 3 chip wasn’t LTE-compatible when the handset entered production several months ago according to CNET. More →

Hands on with the HTC One S

The chaos of day 0 at Mobile World Congress is finally winding down, and HTC’s action-packed press conference is now behind us. The obvious star of the show was the HTC One X, but there’s no denying that its mid-range counterpart packs a massive punch as well. We just spent some time putting the HTC One S through the paces and first things first: this smartphone is amazingly thin. At 7.9 millimeters, it’s the thinnest smartphone HTC has ever built and it really is amazing that the company managed to pack such high-end specs into a device this slim. Check out our hands-on photos in the gallery below and hit the break for the rest of our initial impressions.

HTC One X hands-on

It’s finally here… the flagship smartphone we’ve all been waiting for… HTC’s One X. BGR first revealed details surrounding HTC’s high-end One X back in November, and the wait has been grueling but it’s finally behind us. This sleek smartphone is every bit as beastly as we all knew it would be, and then some. Starting with the 4.7-inch Super LCD2 display that features 720p HD resolution, this is easily one of the best screens we’ve ever seen on an HTC phone. The quad-core Tegra 3 appears to be an absolute monster, and we didn’t even come close to tripping it up during our hands-on time with the phone. Check out our photo gallery below, and hit the break for more.
