Summer is fast approaching and if the past two years have taught smartphone fans anything, it’s that Sprint and HTC are preparing to launch a new flagship smartphone. The EVO 4G burst onto the scene in 2010 and raised the bar for Android smartphones around the world. While the handset’s successor, the EVO 3D, was unable to recapture the magic brought about by the original model, it was still a cutting-edge smartphone worthy of the EVO brand. Now it’s 2012, and rumors suggest one of the most impressive smartphones ever to be produced is coming soon to Sprint. Based on the HTC One X, Sprint’s new flagship smartphone will seemingly be chocked full of technology including a 4.7-inch high-definition display, a 1.5GHz dual-core CPU, Android 4.0, Sense 4.0, 4G LTE and a gigantic battery. Will Sprint and HTC’s new EVO-branded device rock the industry like the original did two years ago? Hit the break for our live coverage of Sprint and HTC’s press conference, which is set to kick off at 5:30 p.m. EDT / 2:30 p.m. PDT.
A purported press image of Sprint’s upcoming HTC EVO One has leaked prior to the handset’s rumored announcement later this week. The image, which was obtained by Pocketnow, pictures the device between the HTC One X for AT&T and the T-Mobile-bound HTC One S. Sprint’s One-series smartphone is rumored to feature a 4.7-inch 720p AMOLED display and a dual-core Snapdragon S4 processor clocked at 1.5GHz. The handset will also supposedly be equipped with a 2,650 mAh non-removable battery, 16GB of internal storage, a microSD slot, an 8-megapixel rear camera, a 2.0-megapixel front-facing camera, 4G LTE connectivity, Beats Audio and Sense 4.0 atop Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. HTC and Sprint are holding a joint press event on April 4th at 5:30 p.m. Eastern, and we will be on hand to report all the news as it breaks. More →
Reports last week indicated that Sprint would launch a smartphone code-named the HTC Jet on June 10th. The handset was a variant of HTC’s One X and would launch nearly two years after Sprint’s iconic HTC EVO 4G, the carrier’s first WiMAX-enabled smartphone. New information from AndroidCentral, however, claims that the device will be called the HTC EVO One and is slated for a June 6th release. The EVO One is equipped with a 4.7-inch 720p AMOLED display and a 1.5GHz dual-core Snapdragon S4 processor, the same CPU found in AT&T’s upcoming version of the One X. The handset will also supposedly feature a 2,650 mAh non-removable battery, 16GB of internal storage, a microSD slot, an 8-megapixel rear and 2.0-megapixel front facing camera, LTE connectivity, Beats Audio and Sense 4.0 atop Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. The EVO One is reportedly black and red, and it comes with a kickstand similar to the one found on the original EVO. HTC and Sprint are holding a joint press event on April 4th at 5:30 p.m, and we will be on hand to deliver all the news as it breaks. More →
