Sprint announces HTC EVO View 4G tablet

On Tuesday at the CTIA Wireless tradeshow in Orlando, Florida, Sprint announced that it will carry a 4G WiMAX version of the HTC Flyer tablet, dubbed the EVO View 4G. The EVO View 4G has a 7-inch 1024 x 600-pixel capacitive touchscreen display, an aluminum uni-body design and a 4,000 mAh battery. It comes with a few unique software features developed by HTC, including HTC Scribe — a note taking application that can be used with an optional pen — and HTC’s Sense user interface on top of Android 2.3 Gingerbread. Other features include a 5-megapixel rear-facing camera, a 1.3-megapixel front-facing camera for video calling, an HDMI-out port and DLNA support for wireless sharing of multimedia content to other DLNA-certified devices. Sprint has not yet provided launch details or pricing for the EVO View 4G. Hit the jump for the full press release and stay tuned for our hands-on. More →

Motorola ATRIX 4G hands-on!

Motorola ATRIX 4G hands-on!

We scored some hands-on time with the brand new Motorola ATRIX 4G for AT&T earlier, and it’s definitely impressive. Running a 1GHz Tegra dual core processor, the ATRIX 4G is a perfect example of how the superphone class has really evolved since the introduction of the Google Nexus One just a year ago. It’s hard to beat the ATRIX 4G in the specifications department with a huge 1,930mAh battery, gorgeous 960 x 540 qHD display, and all the requisite HD video features. One of the most impressive things that we got to demo was the HDMI video out capabilities that turn the ATRIX, when coupled with your HDTV, into a real media center. Plug in your HDMI cable, turn on the TV, and the ATRIX 4G display morphs immediately into a remote control to access a Front Row-esque interface on your big screen. Pretty cool stuff. Gaming was also impressive, with no noticeable frame rate or performance issues, even under heavy processor load. NVIDIA has done an incredible job of optimizing this thing for gaming and graphics work. We’re fired up about the ATRIX 4G, but even after our rather lengthy demo with the handset, it was still cool to the touch — very impressive. Our video is uploading, so sit tight for just a couple minutes, alright? More →

As with any leak, we suggest you approach this with a healthy amount of skepticism, but if a post made to PConline is to be believed, this upcoming Windows Phone 7 handset from HTC — the HD3 — is going to be an absolute beast. We mean, take a look at the purported specs:

  • 4.5″ WXGA Super AMOLED multi-touch display
  • 8 megapixel camera with dual-LED flash
  • 720p HD video recording
  • 1080p HD playback
  • Wi-Fi / Bluetooth
  • 3G / 4G connectivity
  • 32GB microSD support
  • 1GB RAM / 1GB ROM
  • 1.5GHz Snapdragon processor
  • 1800 mAh battery
  • 115mm x 65mm x 10mm

Like we said, this is strictly a rumor, but how great would it be if it all came true?
