There’s a lot of hype around the upcoming Moto 360 smartwatch, as Motorola was the first Android Wear device maker to come up with an awesome gadget that uses the most basic watch design lines – not to worry though, Samsung plans to quickly follow with a round smartwatch, even if it takes a few trial runs to get the new smartwatch model right. First Google Chromebook available now through private Gilt sale; $499

The first notebook model to run Google’s Chrome OS is now available for $499 through a private sale. Samsung’s Chromebook Series 5 notebook computer is currently a featured item on Gilt Men, a subsection of Gilt Groupe’s popular private sale website. Gilt’s sale began today and it runs until 9:00 a.m. Eastern on Friday. The Samsung Series 5 Chromebook features a 12.1-inch display, a dual-core Intel processor, Wi-Fi and 3G connectivity and an HD webcam, and it ships with a free sleeve as part of Gilt’s sale. Samsung will release the notebook to the general public on June 15th but Chromebooks purchased through the Gilt sale will be delivered between June 8th and June 14th. More →

Amazon launches MyHabit.com to compete with Gilt

On Tuesday evening, Amazon will take the wraps off of MyHabit.com — a new site that will compete directly with Gilt and other membership-only sites that offer discounts on high-end brands. MyHabit will have stiff competition, however, as Vente Privee has largely dominated the international private sales industry and will soon spread into the United States, according to Business Insider. The website will offer up to 60% off of select brands and sales will begin at noon EDT daily. Amazon says that it will offer free shipping as well as 360-degree views of products that are available. It’s unclear what brands are on board so far, but if you’re looking for a new pair of Louis Vuitton sneakers at a discount price, MyHabit.com could be a good place to start looking. More →
