Survey finds Apple desktops are the least likely to fall apart

Mac PC Reliability Study

Consumer Reports on Wednesday put out a big survey of thousands of desktop users and found that Apple’s (AAPL) desktops were the least likely to need serious repairs. According to the survey, just 7% of Apple desktop users reported having major repair needs for their machines, followed by 10% of HP (HPQ) desktop owners, 11% of Dell (DELL) desktop users and 13% of Gateway users. Consumer Reports says it conducted its survey by asking “readers who bought 8,007 desktops from 2009 through the first half of 2012 about their experiences.” More →

Gateway launches WiMAX enabled notebook, NV59C66u

Today, Gateway announced an update to its NV series of notebooks, the NV59C66u. As the press release explains, “Customers can pair the Gateway NV59C66u with integrated WiMAX hardware, and then choose a WiMAX service provider to connect to networks in a growing number of cities and metropolitan areas around the United States for a fast and reliable connection to the Internet.” The NV series of laptops are configurable with Intel Core i3, Intel Core i5, AMD Athlon, or AMD Turion processors. The 4G integrated NV59C66u starts at $699 and is available immediately.
