Sprint’s Samsung Galaxy S II with 4G WiMAX passes through FCC

Yesterday we brought you exclusive images of AT&T’s Samsung Galaxy S II slider and today we’re getting some info surrounding Sprint’s version of the phone. The Samsung SPH-D710 Galaxy S II recently passed through the FCC complete with a 4G WiMAX radio, which suggests that we could be hearing an announcement from Sprint in the coming weeks. Earlier leaks suggested that the carrier will call it the “Galaxy Within,” although that name still is not confirmed. We’re expecting the phone to pack the same internals as the European Galaxy S II, which means it should be equipped with a dual-core processor, plenty of on board memory, a brand new TouchWiz user interface, and of course Samsung’s stunning Super AMOLED Plus display. Sprint’s Samsung Galaxy S II possibly leaked

Sprint’s Samsung Galaxy S II possibly leaked

When Samsung brought the Galaxy S to the United States, each of the big four carriers launched a variant of the device. We’re expecting the same roll-out with the Galaxy S II finally comes to our shores, but we haven’t heard or seen much… until now. Thisismynext recently leaked images of what appears to be a Sprint branded Galaxy S II. There are some small tweaks — the edges are rounded and aren’t as sharp as the original — but it has the same textured back and an 8-megapixel camera with dual-LED flash. Rumor has it the device could launch under the “Galaxy Within” moniker and it should offer the same gorgeous Super AMOLED Plus display and blazing fast dual-core processor as its European counterpart. It’s also said to be running Android 2.3.4 (Gingerbread), which means it will offer full support for video chat using Google Talk. Hit the jump for another picture of the phone. More →

Sprint to launch Samsung Epic 2, Galaxy Within, BlackBery Bold Touch

Sprint to launch Samsung Epic 2, Galaxy Within, BlackBery Bold Touch

Sprint will have a busy third quarter as it preps a number of new handsets. According to Thisismynext, the carrier will launch the Samsung Epic 2, the BlackBerry Bold 9930, and a new “full touch 4G” device from Samsung. The Epic 2 will sport a 1.2GHz processor, a 4-inch display, and an 8-megapixel camera. Given Samsung’s recent introduction of the Infuse 4G on AT&T and DROID Charge on Verizon, we wouldn’t be surprised to see the Epic 2 offer the same Super AMOLED Plus display as those handsets. Sprint is expected to launch a new “full touch” Samsung “Galaxy Within” device in the quarter as well, and we’re hoping it’s the Sprint version of the Korean firm’s new ultra-high end dual-core packing Galaxy S II handset. The carrier’s also planning to introduce a global-roaming version of the BlackBerry Bold 9930, which we leaked before RIM took the wraps off of it during its annual BlackBerry World conference in March. On the same note, Sprint may introduce a new “push-to-talk BlackBerry,” but it’s unclear what the name will be. Lastly, the carrier may launch new Kyocera/Sanyo phones according to the report, although there’s no word on what those devices will offer.
