Samsung is apparently already working on Android tablets with 4K resolution, TechRadar reveals, after having seen one such prototype in France during an LTE broadcast demonstration at the French Open at Roland Garros. The device used is apparently a “reference device for operators to perform tests with,” although the tablet came with clear Samsung branding and design, including Samsung’s “physical home key below the 12-inch UltraHD display.” From the looks of it, the tablet seems similar to Samsung’s current 12.2-inch Galaxy Note Pro 12.2 and Tab Pro 12.2 models. Samsung launched a new Pro family of tablets a few months ago, comprised of devices with screens from 8.4 to 12.2 inches that are already available in various countries. However, Samsung may have a hard time selling some of them this year, particularly the 12.2-inch Galaxy Note Pro and Galaxy Tab Pro models, which have prices starting at $849 and $649, respectively.
Samsung took to Twitter to announce that the 12.2-inch Galaxy NotePRO 12.2 tablet that was unveiled at CES 2014 is now available for pre-order in the U.K. from its online store. The company has finally announced pricing details and a launch date for the basic 32GB Galaxy NotePRO 12.2 Wi-Fi model (available in white or black,) at least for the U.K. – the tablet costs £649 (about $1,076) and is scheduled to ship on February 4. Buyers that pre-order the device now will also get a free Gamepad, which otherwise retails for £59. The LTE version of the tablet is not yet available for purchase. More →
