Mozilla’s Firefox 10 now available for download

Mozilla on Tuesday released the latest version of its Firefox browser. In addition to allowing users to run full-screen apps, Firefox 10 offers the following enhancements:

  • The forward button is now hidden until you navigate back.
  • Most add-ons are now compatible with new versions of Firefox by default.
  • Anti-Aliasing for WebGL is now implemented.
  • CSS3 3D-Transforms are now supported.

Mozilla also made some HTML5 changes and noted two bug fixes. The company said that it has fixed a Java-related crash, which Mac OS X users experienced in earlier versions, as well as a crash related to moving bookmarks. Firefox 10 is available immediately as a free download. More →

DROID 2 Global software update on the way, squashes global bugs

According to a report by Droid-Life, a software update for the DROID 2 Global handset it on the way. The update, which weighs in at around 16MB, fixes several international calling bugs, including: device resets when switching from GSM/UMTS mode, errant “No Service” signals, and a blank screen when activating call forwarding. The report also boasts of “improved audio during voice calls” and “reduced user interface lock-ups,” which are always a good thing. No word on when the software will officially begin hitting handsets, but we’re sure it won’t be too long from now. More →

Apple seeds iOS 4.2.1 Gold Master candidate to developers

Probably not the iOS 4.2 announcement you were hoping for, but it is an announcement nonetheless. Moments ago, Apple seeded another gold master candidate of iOS 4.2 — 4.2.1 — to developers via its iOS Dev Center. Presumably, the new code fixes several bugs that have been reported in the first 4.2 GM candidate; including a fairly nasty Wi-Fi bug affecting iPads. If you’re a member of Apple’s developer network, you know what to do. Everyone else… the waiting continues.

Verizon rolling out DROID 2 update; improved battery life, Wi-Fi, GPS

Today, Verizon Wireless announced a minor update to the Motorola DROID 2 that is currently being rolled out. The update brings with it improved battery life, better proximity sensor accuracy, improved GPS tracking, faster transitions between Wi-Fi and 3G, and a handful of other small fixes.
