Sprint’s HTC EVO 3D hands-on!

Sprint just announced the HTC EVO 3D, its latest 4G WiMAX smartphone with a 3D-spin, and we had some time to sit down to check out the device first-hand. In one word: Amazing. The EVO 3D’s 4.3-inch 3D display is incredible to look at while displaying 3D images and video. It reminds us of looking at a holographic trading card. We watched some user-submitted 3D YouTube videos on the phone, and a few jesters dancing around really popped off of the display. Similarly, the flowers in a bouquet that one woman was holding in an image seemed to jump off the screen — we actually reached out to touch them at one point! There’s a ton to discuss here, so hit the jump for more impressions on the EVO 3D, and don’t forget to check out our hands-on photo gallery.

HTC EVO 3D and EVO View 4G tablet appear on Sprint website

At this point there’s little doubt Sprint will be announcing these two exciting devices later today at its media event — which we’ll be covering live beginning at 1:00 p.m. Eastern — but seeing the devices pop up on the Sprint website is always comforting. We scooped both the HTC EVO 3D and the HTC EVO View 4G tablet last week and details were reaffirmed on Monday ahead of this year’s CTIA Wireless show. The EVO 3D is said to feature a 4.3-inch qHD 960 x 450-pixel Autostereoscopic 3D display, 4GB of RAM, 1GB ROM, a 1.2GHz dual-core Snapdragon processor, dual rear 5-megapixel camera, a 1.3-megapixel front-facing camera and a hefty 1730mAh battery. The EVO View 4G tablet is rumored to sport a 7-inch device with a 1024 x 600-pixel touchscreen, an aluminium unibody design, HTC Scribe with optional pen support, the latest HTC Sense UI optimized for tablet devices, a 5-megapixel rear-facing camera, a 1.3-megapixel front-facing camera, the Android 2.3 Gingerbread, a 4000mAh battery, DLNA and HDMI-out support. Launch details and pricing information are not yet available. More →

Sprint preparing massive CTIA unveiling: Nexus S 4G, EVO 3D, and EVO View

Sprint preparing massive CTIA unveiling: Nexus S 4G, EVO 3D, and EVO View

U.S. wireless carrier Sprint was noticeably absent from both CES and MWC, but if this latest rumor comes to fruition, we think we know why. According to Engadget, the nation’s third largest wireless carrier plans to unveil no less than three high-end devices at CTIA Wireless in Orlando this month. What’s on the menu? The Samsung Nexus S 4G, a standard Nexus S with a WiMAX radio; the EVO 3D, HTC’s spin on the very successful EVO 4G with a 3D screen; and the EVO View, a CDMA version of the HTC Flyer tablet. The rumor is backed up by several Wi-Fi alliance filings from Samsung and HTC, but no concrete evidence has surfaced just yet. The CTIA Wireless conference runs from March 22nd to the 24th, and we’re sure as we get closer to that date, more information will make itself available. More →
