HTC on Wednesday confirmed that 16 of its devices will receive a “tasty treat of Ice Cream Sandwich.” An Android 4.0 update will hit the DROID Incredible 2, Amaze 4G, Desire S, Desire HD, EVO 3D, EVO Design 4G, Incredible S, Sensation, Sensation XL, Sensation 4G, Sensation XE, Raider, Rezound, Rhyme, Thunderbolt and Vivid. The Taiwanese company is currently in the early stages of rolling out Android 4.0 for the Sensation and Sensation XE, with the Sensation 4G and Sensation XL scheduled to follow. Additional updates will be “more widely available in the next few weeks.” The manufacturer is continuing to work with carriers in each country to “nail down update schedules for our other smartphones and will have more to share very soon.” More →
HTC on Friday announced via the company’s Facebook page that the Thunderbolt, Rhyme and DROID Incredible 2 will all be updated to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. “We have more good news related to Android 4.0, Ice Cream Sandwich, and can confirm that upgrades are planned for Verizon Wireless customers with the HTC Rhyme, HTC Thunderbolt, and DROID Incredible 2 by HTC, as well as the already announced HTC Rezound,” the company posted on its Facebook page. Earlier reports excluded these devices, among others, and it is nice to see a company including earlier models in its list of devices that will receive the highly anticipated update. HTC also announced that the Raider will receive an Ice Cream Sandwich update for Rogers and Bell in Canada. No information is available regarding a release schedule, however the company promises “more news on Ice Cream Sandwich releases in the coming weeks.” More →
There is something about white devices that tends to revitalize people’s interest in a smartphone. In the past year numerous, Android devices have been released in black or gray, only to be re-released in white a few months later. We have seen the DROID Incredible 2, Galaxy S II line and even the Nexus S in white. According to Clove and MobileFun, two UK retailers, a white variant of the Galaxy Nexus should arrive in early February. The internals are exactly the same as its gray counterpart and pricing shouldn’t be different either. Unfortunately, there is no indication that Verizon Wireless will release a white version, however, we wouldn’t rule it out. More →
Amazon isn’t the only game in town when it comes to deep discounts on popular smartphones, and while Amazon’s 4G phone sale is certainly impressive, LetsTalk has a few even more appealing deals for Memorial Day. From now through May 31st, the online retailer is offering several incentives that add up to big savings on Verizon Wireless’ Android smartphones. First, LetsTalk is offering free overnight shipping on all Android phones. Add to that a 20%-off coupon for all Verizon Android phones (coupon code 7c7f3319) and we’re looking at some of the lowest prices we’ve seen yet on several sleek smartphones. Some highlights from LetsTalk’s sale include the Motorola DROID X2 for $120, the Sony Ericson Xperia PLAY for $80 and the HTC DROID Incredible 2 for just $64. Countless other smartphones are already priced at $0.01 or even free, so Amazon clearly has some competition over the coming long weekend. More →
The DROID Incredible 2 recently landed on Verizon Wireless, and it has some tough shoes to fill. When the original launched, it was BGR’s favorite Android phone to date despite stiff competition from the Motorola DROID, which launched at the same time. The DROID Incredible 2 packs some decent hardware, like a 1GHz processor, an 8-megapixel camera capable of recording 720p video, and more, but its specs — and data speeds — don’t match those of phones at the higher end of Verizon’s portfolio. Is the DROID Incredible 2 a worthy successor to the original or does it fall short? Read on to find out!
We have been playing with HTC’s DROID Incredible 2 for the last day or so, and here’s some quick feedback and first impressions: For starters, the 4-inch screen size, while no doubt a personal preference, really seems to be the sweet spot for most Android handsets. It’s reasonably large, yet not too big to use one-handed, as some 4.3-inch devices seem to be. The screen itself is beautiful, but there is an unusually high glare on the display that can be a bit distracting. Beneath the display lies a 1GHz Snapdragon processor, an 8-megapixel camera with support for 720p HD video capture and the Android 2.2 (Froyo) operating system. We’re really enjoying the styling and build materials of the Incredible 2; it’s a welcome update to original DROID Incredible, which was a bit plasticky. One issue with the build of the handset, however, is that front case and rear battery cover have been sandwiched together, and the seam is right in the middle around the entire outer edge of the phone. This impacts the feel of the phone when it is being held, and we’re not big fans. That’s probably the only negative thing we can find off the bat — and it’s not even a major issue, just a minor annoyance. All in all, the HTC DROID Incredible 2 seems to be a worthy upgrade over the original, but we’ll reserve final judgement for our upcoming review. In the meantime, hit the gallery below for some preliminary photos, alright?

We’ve seen plenty of leaked images of Verizon Wireless’ DROID Incredible 2, the full spec list has already been leaked, and we even know the estimated price. Now, however, the phone has leaked on Verizon Wireless’ website for the second time. If there ever has been a sign that the launch is imminent, it’s this. The prices for several upcoming Verizon Wireless smartphones — including the Samsung DROID Charge, HTC DROID Incredible 2, LG Revolution, and Motorola DROID X 2 — have seemingly been revealed by Phone Arena. There aren’t too many surprises in store, but it’s clear that you’re definitely going to be paying a premium for a new 4G LTE phone. The DROID Incredible 2, and DROID X 2 are both priced at the standard $199.99 with a new two-year contract. The Samsung DROID Charge, on the other hand, could be priced at $299.99 — the cost of a low-end netbook — but it does pack in 4G LTE support, a 4.3-inch Super-AMOLED display, an 8-megapixel camera, and other high-end hardware. Next up is the LG Revolution, another 4G LTE Android 2.2 smartphone with a 1GHz Snapdragon processor and a 4-inch display. It’s apparently priced at $249.99, which is dead-on with the pricing of the HTC ThunderBolt. Release dates for these devices haven’t been confirmed, but we’d bet you’ll see a few of them — almost certainly the DROID Incredible 2 — in the coming months. More →
The information floodgates on Verizon Wireless’ upcoming HTC DROID Incredible 2 have been lifted. Last week several leaked images of the phone surfaced, and on Monday even more details emerged. According to images picked up by Android Central, the DROID Incredible 2 will support global roaming for “more than 220 voice and 200 data services countries,” — a feature the original DROID Incredible lacked. As we suspected, it appears the device will remain very similar to the Incredible S HTC announced during Mobile World Congress. It sports 3G mobile hotspot connectivity, a 1.3 front-facing camera, an 8-megapixel rear-facing camera, and a 1GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor. While the European version runs Android 2.2 (Froyo), earlier rumors have suggested that Verizon’s will be loaded with Android 2.3 (Gingerbread). Verizon Wireless has yet to confirm the DROID Incredible 2, but these leaks suggest a launch could be imminent. Hit the jump for another image describing some of the phone’s specs. More →
We had little doubt that Verizon Wireless had plans to launch the Incredible S — announced in February during MWC — as the DROID Incredible 2, but here’s further proof. Leaked shots of DROID Incredible 2 have been published by Pocketnow.com, and they show the device with Verizon Wireless branding. Big Red hasn’t officially announced the phone yet, but it will likely offer the same hardware as the Incredible S, including a 1GHz processor, an 8-megapixel camera capable of recording 720p video, and a 4-inch 800 x 480-pixel resolution touchscreen. We called the DROID Incredible “our favorite Android device to date” when we reviewed it last April, so this puppy has some pretty big shoes to fill. More →
