Motorola’s new full-touch DROID is expected to be RAZR-thin, and it will feature some pretty formidable specs according to BGR’s exclusive report from last week. With a $99 iPhone 4, the iPhone 4S, Motorola’s new DROID and a brand new Galaxy Nexus all set to be on store shelves before the holidays, it looks like Verizon is once again the place to be for high-end smartphone fans. Call it the DROID HD, call it the DROID RAZR, call it the Spyder or call it whatever else you want… in a few short hours we’ll be calling Motorola’s new smartphone the sleekest new Android phone on the planet. Until tonight, at least. Motorola and Verizon Wireless have teased us with a suggestive video that touts the smartphone as faster, thinner, smarter and stronger, and BGR exclusively reported key specs last week. All that’s left now is an official unveiling and a few tests to see how strong that Kevlar case really is.

We just confirmed some of the specifications for the upcoming Motorola DROID device (DROID HD / DROID RAZR / Spyder) that Verizon Wireless and Motorola are rumored to be announcing next week, and they are monster. Here is what we have:
- Thinner and “faster than the iPhone 4S” according to our source
- 1GB of RAM — double the iPhone 4 and 4S
- 1.2GHz dual-core processor
- 4G LTE (thinnest LTE phone to date)
- 4.3-inch display
The teaser video for this phone appears to be a direct shot at the iPhone — faster, thinner, smarter, stronger — and with the specifications above and rumored physical attributes like a case molded from Kevlar, a Gorilla Glass display and a splash-resistant coating, it looks like we’re in for quite an event next Tuesday.
Motorola has just sent out invitations to a press event with Verizon Wireless on October 18th in New York City, and if a variety of leaks over the past few weeks are accurate, we should see some awesome new hardware unveiled. There should be multiple updates to the Motorola XOOM tablet, a Motorola XOOM 2 and a XOOM 2 Media Edition, as well as a new Motorola DROID HD (Motorola DROID RAZR) — a set of next-generation devices that will get any Android fan worked up. Images and preliminary specifications for the upcoming Motorola DROID HD have reportedly been revealed. Engadget received photos and details from an anonymous source, and the DROID HD certainly looks and sounds like a future blockbuster. Spec highlights include the Gingerbread OS, a massive 4.5-inch display likely equipped with either qHD or even 1280 x 720-pixel resolution, an 8-megapixel camera with 1080p video recording capability, a front-facing camera for video chat and an HDMI-out port. The phone also appears to be extremely thin — Engadget estimates its depth to be between 8.5mm and 9mm.
