A healthy portion of T-Mobile’s 2011 device roadmap has purportedly been revealed, shedding light on a few previously unknown smartphones. Not much information is available surrounding the previously unknown devices beyond a codename and some speculation, but T-Mobile subscribers should find a morsel here and there to get excited about. We broke the news on practically all of RIM’s 2011 BlackBerry smartphones, and even scored some hands-on time with more than a couple of them. We wanted to take a minute to highlight the new products coming out of Waterloo now that all of the phones have leaked in some form. Remember, a lot of these are codenames that obviously won’t make it to retail — this is how the company keeps track of the devices internally and sometimes a single product can have multiple codenames. We’ve heard from two independent sources that RIM is planning on announcing only one handset at BlackBerry World next week, the BlackBerry Bold Touch (or whatever name it ends up launching with). Yeah, that’s right… the company has six major products in the pipeline, all currently set to be released between June and September, and it is only going to announce one of them at the biggest Blackberry event of the year. We’re told this was a last minute change, and if it ends up panning out, well, it’s just plain stupid.
Research In Motion isn’t just a leaky faucet ahead of BlackBerry World this year, it’s a waterfall. We scooped RIM’s 2011 BlackBerry lineup back in January and more recently, we gave you a hands-on look at the BlackBerry Bold Touch, BlackBerry Touch and BlackBerry Torch 2 smartphones, but the leaks continue. In recent days we’ve seen full specs, brief hands-on videos and more, and for the two or three remaining naysayers who still don’t believe RIM is about to announce its next-generation smartphone lineup at BlackBerry World next month, RIM’s promo videos are now starting to leak out. Companies typically don’t put these promotional spots together unless the have some devices to, you know, promote — so BlackBerry fans should sit tight for another couple of weeks and we’re certain they’ll have some sleek new smartphones to swoon over. Hit the break for RIM’s official BlackBerry Bold 9900 and BlackBerry 9860 promo videos. More →
Following BGR’s exclusive scoop in January and our exclusive hands-on earlier this month, the BlackBerry Bold Touch 9930 (Montana) has been handled on video for the first time. The video doesn’t reveal any additional key details surrounding the highly anticipated smartphone, but BlackBerry fans will undoubtedly enjoy seeing the display being poked and swiped, thus eliminating any possible remaining doubt as to the existence of this once mythical beast. BGR revealed the majority of the Bold Touch’s key specs back in January, and highlights include a 2.8-inch touchscreen display above RIM’s famous BlackBerry keyboard, a 1.2GHz processor, a 5-megapixel camera with HD video capture support, 3G mobile hotspot support and a 10.5mm-thin case. The Bold Touch is expected to be unveiled next month at BlackBerry World and it should launch globally in June or July. Hit the jump for the video.
We brought you the first hands-on with the BlackBerry Bold Touch yesterday, and now the devices’s full specs have reportedly been leaked. BGR exclusively revealed the device’s key specs back in January, but now N4BB has obtained a full specs for the phone, which show that it features a Qualcomm 8655 Snapdragon processor clocked at 1.2GHz, 8GB of on-board storage, a 5-megapixel camera capable of recording 720p HD video, and a 2.8-inch 640 x 480-pixel touchscreen display. The documents also reaffirm the Bold Touch’s 3G mobile hotspot feature we scooped, which will allow you to share its 3G connection via Wi-Fi. We’ve been told that RIM will announce the BlackBerry Bold Touch during BlackBerry World early next month and that the device will hit the market around June or July. What, you thought we were stopping with our exclusive hands-on with the BlackBerry Touch (Monaco / Monza)? Not at all, we’re back at it with the big boy in RIM’s 2011 lineup: the BlackBerry Bold Touch. We first scooped this smartphone back in January and we have to say, it most certainly looks better in person compared to the product renders — and that’s pretty spectacular seeing how appetizing those renders looked. The unit itself is extremely solid and the touchscreen is very responsive… and who could forget that great and spacious BlackBerry keyboard? The BlackBerry Bold Touch also uses a new battery from RIM, so hopefully the addition of a touchscreen to this famous BlackBerry form factor won’t have too much of a negative impact on battery life. We’re told the device will be announced at BlackBerry World and a global release is slated for the June-July time frame. Make sure to check out all the photos in our hands-on gallery!
Since RIM first began dabbling with the now ubiquitous touchscreen, BlackBerry users have been clamoring for a smartphone with a candy bar form factor that positions a landscape touchscreen above RIM’s famous BlackBerry keyboard. If Motorola and Samsung can both do it, why can’t RIM? Thanks to an exclusive BGR report, we learned last month that RIM is indeed working on a touch-and-type Bold smartphone. Now, for the first time, images of the smartphone codenamed Dakota (GSM) and Montana (CDMA) have surfaced. The images reveal that the size of the handset is closer to the original Bold 9000 than newer, more compact Bold models, but the added size will hardly be a deterrent to the countless BlackBerry fans who have been waiting years for this device. The rest of this sexy smartphone’s specs can be found in our earlier report. Hit the jump for more images. More →
