Google Goggles released for iPhone

Today, Google announced that its Goggles image search feature is immediately available in the App Store for Apple’s iPhone smartphone. The new feature, which will be bundled into the Google Mobile App, will support iPhone 3GS and iPhone 4 devices running iOS 4 or higher.

“Computer vision is a hard problem and Google Goggles is still a Labs product. It works well for things such as landmarks, logos and the covers of books, DVDs and games. However, it doesn’t yet work for some things you might want to try like animals, plants or food,” explains Google.

Slap on those beer Goggles and get Googling. There is a brief video waiting for you after the break. More →

Sony Ericsson's incredibly sexy W995a available July 6th

Having long since been given the green light for sale in the US by the FCC, Sony Ericsson announced today that the unlocked W995a Walkman will go on sale July 6th at Sony Style locations across the US. Identical to the W995 Walkman in every way save for the inclusion of a tri-band UMTS/HSPA (850/1800/1900MHz) radio, the W995a is the type of device that we’d like to see SE continue to push out alongside smartphones like the Satio. Here’s why: a 2.6-inch QVGA display, 8.1 megapixel camera with auto focus, image stabilization and face detection, video calling, Wi-Fi, aGPS, FM radio with RDS, Media Go, Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync support and a 3.5mm headphone jack can all be yours, unlocked, for around $600. Pretty appealing, is it not?

Rogers HTC Dream review

So by now you’ve probably seen that our Rogers HTC Dream demo unit recently arrived in a locked safe and are wondering why such a fuss has been made over a device that has been for sale in the US from T-Mobile since October of 2008. While the device is physically the same of course, there are quite a few differences compared to the stock Android OS and it really took us by surprise. Want to know more? Grab a coffee, slip on your spectacles and a hit the jump for the review.

Essentially nothing more than an update to the 6600 slide with a 5 megapixel camera, brushed metal body, smaller pant size and 3G connectivity, the 6600i could be just what the doctor ordered as summer approaches and the thought of ruining your N85 at the beach floats around in your head. LG's enV Touch aka Voyager 2 gets spec'd

LG's enV Touch aka Voyager 2 gets spec'd

When we showed you some exclusive pics of the LG enV Touch aka Voyager 2 we didn’t know a whole lot about the Verizon-bound device. Don’t worry though, as some new details have now emerged thanks to a leaked Verizon Equipment Guide. The handset will sport dual WVGA touchscreen displays, a full-QWERTY keypad, stereo speakers, Bluetooth, microSDHC support and a 3.2 megapixel camera with not only auto-focus and flash but a Schneider-Kreuznach lens as well. The enV Touch will also feature a UI that is quite similar to its predecessor the Voyager in many ways, with one of the most notable improvements being the Shortcut Menu that stores up to 15 shortcuts. As for when the enV Touch will hit the shelves, it’s anyone’s guess at this point. The fact that it was left off of the latest Verizon rebate sheet that is in effect until June 4th however, probably isn’t too comforting for those who have their hopes set of landing this device ASAP. Hit the jump for a few more shots from the Equipment Guide.

Images of the BlackBerry Storm 2 emerge

Images of the BlackBerry Storm 2 emerge

A mere four days after the world got its first look at the upcoming BlackBerry Driftwood, the guys at CrackBerry have scored pictures of the successor to the BlackBerry Storm from the same source. Featuring similar styling queues as the Driftwood with black plastic convenience keys and a battery cover sporting the seven-dot BlackBerry logo, the Storm 2 does look a lot like the current 9500 / 9530 Storm — albeit much thinner and more streamlined. We’re currently short on concrete specs other than the fact that it will launch on Verizon and feature Wi-Fi and a new screen technology called TruePress (as opposed to the current Storm’s SurePress). The newest Storm also retains the metal battery cover and auto-focus 3.2 megapixel camera with flash as well.
