Even Android users want iPads instead of Android tablets

The iPad was a top Black Friday seller, even among Android users. According to a report by InfoScout, about 40% of Black Friday iPad purchases were by Android users. These numbers are certainly good news for Apple. They suggest that Android users are not particularly loyal to their platform and are willing to try out iOS, at least on the tablet. While Amazon, Microsoft and Google tout their tablets, the iPad continues to be the most used device by a long shot, with 84.3% usage. More →

Andy Rubin: 900,000 Android devices activated each day

Google’s senior vice president of mobile Andy Rubin confirmed on Sunday that 900,000 Android devices are activated each day, an increase from 850,000 devices in February. The announcement came after a rumor began to circulate that Rubin was planning to leave Google for a startup known as CloudCar. The executive assured users that he has no plans to leave the search giant, however. “Cloudcar are a group of friends who I give free office space to in my incubator in Los Altos. Revel Touch is another cool company that shares this space,” Rubin wrote on Google+. “I’m not joining either one and I don’t have any plans to leave Google.” More →
