Samsung Galaxy Nexus now just $99.99 from Amazon

The world’s first Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich-powered smartphone is currently on sale at a huge discount from retail giant Amazon. The company’s wireless arm is currently offering Samsung’s Galaxy Nexus smartphone for as little as $99.99 with a new Verizon Wireless contract, and Amazon is even throwing in free two-day shipping for good measure. This is the lowest price we’ve seen for Samsung’s sleek pure Google phone, and it is only available while supplies last according to an Amazon spokesperson. BGR reviewed the Galaxy Nexus this past November and we called it our favorite Android device in the world at that time. The handset features a massive 4.65-inch Super AMOLED display with HD 720p resolution, 4G LTE, a 5-megapixel camera and NFC capabilities. More →

There is no need to wait until Black Friday or Cyber Monday to get a new smartphone at a great price. Amazon is now offering every smartphone it carries for AT&T, Verizon or Sprint for as low as $0.01 with a new contract. To be clear, you’ll need to sign up for a new line or be a new customer with one of the carriers, otherwise you’ll pay standard upgrade pricing. Samsung DROID Charge on sale for $199 from Amazon

By on May 20, 2011 at 4:30 AM.

Samsung DROID Charge on sale for $199 from Amazon

As much as we like Verizon Wireless’ second 4G LTE-enabled smartphone offering, $300 is a tough pill to swallow — even for the fastest smartphone we’ve ever reviewed. While the improved battery life and slimmer build probably do warrant a $50 premium over the HTC ThunderBolt, Verizon’s other 4G smartphone, its $250 asking price is a bit steep to begin with. As usual, however, AmazonWireless has swooped in with a sale price and undercut Verizon’s asking price by a cool $100. The new lower price of $199 is in line with what one might expect to pay for a smartphone on contract, and the DROID Charge is well worth it thanks to a 1GHz processor, a gorgeous Super AMOLED Plus display, an 8-megapixel camera and, of course, blazing fast 4G LTE speeds. Amazon’s $199 price tag for the DROID Charge is only available for a limited time, though no end date has been specified for the sale. More →

HTC ThunderBolt back on sale at AmazonWireless; $129.99

As much as we loved the HTC ThunderBolt when we reviewed it this past March, we can certainly understand if some people are hesitant to spend $250 on a new smartphone — even if it does run on the fastest cellular network in the country. If you fall into that category of intrigued smartphone buyers who just cant stomach parting with that much money up front, you’re in luck. AmazonWireless has brought back its previous sale price for the ThunderBolt. That’s right, just $129.99, a smartphone data plan and a two-year contract will get you all the 4G’d Froyo you can handle — but only for a limited time.

UPDATE: To clarify, during this sale the ThunderBolt is $129.99 for new customers, $174.99 for existing customers upgrading on an individual account, and $199.99 for existing customers upgrading a line on a family plan. More →

Verizon's ThunderBolt now just $129.99 from Amazon

Verizon's ThunderBolt now just $129.99 from Amazon

Verizon Wireless’ HTC ThunderBolt has been a big seller for the nation’s top carrier so far. In the two weeks that Verizon’s first 4G LTE-capable smartphone has been available, the carrier has activated an impressive 260,000 units. Those are great numbers, especially when considering the steep $250 price tag on the device. Those who yearn for 4G LTE but who can’t quite stomach the thought of paying that much for a cell phone will be happy to learn that they will soon be able to purchase a ThunderBolt from AmazonWireless for just over half that price. From midnight tonight through midnight on April 25th, Amazon is offering the ThunderBolt for just $129.99 with a two-year contract. Amazon will also toss in free two-day shipping to sweeten the deal, though we’re not sure it really needed any sweetening — BGR reviewed the HTC ThunderBolt last month and found it to be a great smartphone with the fastest cellular data service we’ve ever tested. Amazon prices Motorola DROID BIONIC at $149.99, too

It looks like Amazon plans to be aggressive when pricing several upcoming handsets that will combine to form a new wave of next-generation Android phones. Last week, we reported that the Motorola ATRIX 4G and the Samsung Infuse 4G, both due to launch soon from AT&T, would be available for $149.99 from the popular online discount retail right out of the gate. Today, enthusiast blog Droid Life reports that Amazon will be offering the same pricing on Verizon Wireless’ upcoming next-generation smartphone, the Motorola DROID BIONIC. A screen shot of the DROID BIONIC’s product page shows the $149.99 contract price alongside a $599.99 full retail price. They page has since been pulled from Amazon’s website, but expect it to show up again soon. More →

Sprint’s latest 4G phone just $89.99 from Amazon

Sprint’s latest 4G phone just $89.99 from Amazon

Sprint released its latest 4G phone earlier this month and the launch price of $149.99 seemed surprisingly reasonable for a well-spec’d 4G smartphone with all the trimmings. As reasonable as that might be, the second smartphone in Sprint’s EVO line is now available from AmazonWireless for just $89.99 with a new two-year contract. The HTC EVO Shift 4G features a 3.6-inch 800 x 480-pixel touchscreen display, an 800MHz processor, a 5-megapixel camera with 720p HD video capture support, mobile hotspot capabilities and 4G WiMAX connectivity, as its moniker might indicate. It runs Android 2.2 Froyo and all in all, it’s definitely a solid option for Sprint subscribers seeking out a new smartphone. Then again, with Mobile World Congress less than a month away, it might be wise to hold off and see what new goodies Sprint has in store. More →
