Look what we have here…details on the upcoming LG Ally; the entry-level, Android-powered handset that is poised to take on the Motorola Devour. Not nearly as promising as the rumored 1GHz, HD-capable Aloha, the Ally will ship with a 600MHz processor and 256 MB of RAM. The side slider will run Android 2.1 “with Google,” and a LG-flavored theme that is dominated by LG’s own calendar, Weather+Time, and Socialite widgets. Verizon Wireless also mucks up the UI makes its presence known with pre-installed Visual Voicemail and V CAST Media Manager — Backup Assistant will be coming soon via the Android Market. The Ally is slated to launch on May 20th in all channels with pre-orders beginning on May 13th. Hit the jump for a few more grabs from the slide deck and a full run down of specs.

LG's LU2300 will be able to compete with the big boys of Android

lg-lu2300

Although there are no guarantees it will ever see a release Stateside, details of a new and nicely spec’d smartphone from LG have emerged from Korea. Known by its model number LG LU2300, the Android 2.1 device is said to be on par devices like Google’s Nexus One and HTC’s Desire thanks in part to its 1GHz processor, 3.5″ WVGA AMOLED capacitive display, 5 megapixel camera, 720p DivX compatibility, DMB tuner and the always welcomed combination of GPS, Wi-Fi and 3G. As we alluded to above, there’s no way to know if the LU2300 will ever make it to this part of the world, but we don’t think anyone would object to having another supercharged smartphone to chose from.

Random thought: Could this actually be the “aloha“?

LG C710 "aloha" outed in official documents

lg-android1

We’re starting to get a very good idea of what one of LG’s next Android offering will be all about thanks to the recent unearthing of both its Wi-Fi certification documents and User Agent Profile. Known by the codename “aloha” and assigned model number LG C710, the device will be LG’s first high-end Android smartphone capable of working outside of a TD-SCDMA network. Specs for the aloha include a capacitive WVGA display in addition to 802.11b/g/n Wi-Fi and HSDPA connectivity. Curiously enough, LG has again opted to install a physical QWERTY keypad at a time when every other manufacturer of Android devices is more or less giving up on them due to consumer obsession with the sleek stylings of full-touchscreen devices. As it stands no one seems to know when the aloha will officially surface, but as history has so often proved, once a handset has been outed on paper people will go through extraordinary lengths to bring images of them to the surface.
