Looks like the Europeans and Southeast Asians won’t be the only ones getting in on the white BlackBerry Bold 9700 action, as the device has popped up in T-Mobile’s internal systems. Available from May 5th onwards, official pricing has not yet been disseminated down the chain of command, although we can’t imagine it will be priced any differently than its black counterpart’s $129.99. So far we’ve not heard anything about this device heading to AT&T, but we’re willing to wager it won’t want to miss out on the Second Coming of the Diddy White Bold. More →
For those BlackBerry users who refuse to sport black after Memorial Day, salvation is on the way. A white BlackBerry 9700, complete with a black track-button-nose, is currently visible on RIM’s Thai website. The addition of white to the Bold 9700 family is no surprise, as RIM debuted a pale version of the Bold 9000 several months after launch. Here at BGR, we are huge fans of Cheetos®, and for that reason alone, a white anything is out of the question. How about you? Does a white 9700 with a black nose pique anyone’s interests? More →
Kind of went for an opposite color vibe on this one. Maybe we’ll give it away in a bit, or something… what do you think? Pictures are in the gallery if you’d like to see some more shots. Also, special thanks to Colorware for the hook up!
It seems that every BlackBerry-lover on the Internets is making a big deal over this AWS spectrum-equipped BlackBerry 9100, and while it’s great to have confirmation that the unit is hitting T-Mobile (and maybe even visiting our Canadian friends at WIND, too), all in all, it doesn’t really mean much. Here’s why: More →
AT&T isn’t the only one enjoying lower prices on BlackBerry’s latest handsets. T-Mobile is now offering the Bold 9700 for $129.99 and the Curve 8520 for $79.99, like we reported in a Whisper a little whle back. If you’re a hardcore BlackBerry user and you haven’t upgraded to a trackpad-equipped device yet, now is the best time to jump on the bandwagon. Of course, T-Mobile’s pricing is still slightly higher than AT&T’s at $30 a piece, but if you’re tied to T-Mobile either for coverage, loyalty or love, it sure beats the original pricing. Keep in mind that new contracts and all the bells and whistles apply, but you already know that. Enjoy! More →
If there is one thing that definitely needs catching up in the gadget industry, it’s battery technology and charging options. Powermat showed us where the future is headed in terms of battery capabilities and new ways to charge them. You’re all probably familiar with how Powermat works: you slip on Powermat’s case onto your iPhone or BlackBerry, or attach the corresponding plug to your device of choice, and place it on the mat for wireless charging. The real issue with current models is that the receivers can be a little gaudy for some of you with Powermat’s bulky cases. In June 2010, however, that’s all going to change. Hit the break for the official press release and more, and some pics of the new Powermat offerings in our gallery!
We’ve heard rumblings about this for a little bit, but a tip we just received gives a little clarity on the situation. More →
Alright, guys. We’ve plowed through almost 7,000 comments and randomly selected five winners! We’ve reached out to all five already, and here they are in no particular order:
Courtney A., Joseph C., Dexter M., Josh F., Sarah P.
Thanks so much to everyone who entered! We’ll be posting the Motorola DROID video winners real soon.
We announced two days ago that AT&T was going to do something a little special for the holidays – taking 50% off BlackBerry smartphones. Starting today, you can head into an AT&T retail store or hop online and grab a BlackBerry of your choice, the BlackBerry 9700 included, for half of what you’d normally have to shell out any other time of year. We don’t need to tell you that this requires a two year agreement and there’s still a mail-in-rebate, but we just did. Just in case. We’re not sure how long this offer will last, but you can bet it will only be for a limited time. And before we forget, the Samsung Solstice will be free with a new contract and all that jazz.
Thanks, J! More →
Who said the weekend has to be uneventful? Colorware went live recently with their BlackBerry 9700 colorizing service, and if you’ve been contemplating a lime green handset, there’s no better device to get colored up than the Bold 9700. We were lucky enough to get two of our units done earlier this week and we have a couple shots of one of them for you. As always with Colorware, you can buy a new device from them which will ship already customized, or you can send in an existing phone and let them do their magic.
Every year countless gifts are given during the holidays. Some of them are great, and some of them… well, you can’t win ‘em all. We’ve never done a Gift Guide before but with countless new products popping up almost weekly, we’re surprised those of you who aren’t glued to BGR are able to pick out a gift at all. Sorting everything by price point didn’t make much sense as the average price of what’s listed is around $199 after rebate, so we sorted it by lust-factor. We’re working on a couple other Gift Guides but in the meantime, here’s our cell phone one. More →
Oh yes, we’re back at it! To show our appreciation for making BGR a part of your daily lives, we’re giving away (5) AT&T BlackBerry Bold 9700s. They will be retail units in AT&T boxes but will also be unlocked. We’ll also keep this short and simple: drop in a comment, win a BlackBerry. Here are the official rules…
- To enter, please leave a comment below telling us why you think you should win a brand new BlackBerry Bold 9700.
- This giveaway will run for one week, until Sunday, November 29th, 2009. We will announce the winners sometime shortly after that.
- Please make sure to leave only one comment as leaving more than one will automatically disqualify your entry.
- This is open to anyone over the age of 18, worldwide. (If you are outside of the U.S. and packages shipped to you are subject to an import tax, you will be responsible for that, but we’ll cover shipping.)
- Also be sure to use the email address you’d like to be contacted at if you win. Email no worky, no prize.
That’s it! Good luck.
What’s that sound we hear in the distance? It’s probably cash registers at AT&T going wild as today, the new BlackBerry Bold 9700 is publicly available for sale. The device was offered up to Premiere customers starting at the top of the week, but since general availability is this morning, we have to ask… are you going to hit an AT&T store and grab RIM’s finest? Or maybe you’re on T-Mobile and snagged one already? Let us know in the comments!
