Motorola Photon 4G hands-on!

While it just was made official moments ago by Sprint CEO Dan Hesse and Motorola CEO Sanjay Jha, we were able to snag some hands-on time with the 4G beast earlier this morning. For starters, the Motorola Photon 4G features a 4.3-inch qHD display, 1GHz dual-core Tegra 2 processor, 16GB of storage, an 8-megapixel camera, front-facing camera, and support for Motorola’s webtop solution, which will allow the phone to power a full Firefox browser on your HDTV. As far the feel, the device is extremely solid and we’re loving the futuristic styling of the design, complete with angled corners. Also, the glossy bezel contrasts beautifully with the rubberized soft-touch case back. The phone runs Android 2.3 Gingerbread, and felt incredibly snappy during the time we spent with it. The Motorola Photon 4G is scheduled to launch this summer, though pricing information has not yet been announced. Don’t let that get you down, though — we have a gallery full of hands-on photos below!

UPDATE: Check out our video hands-on with the Motorola Photon 4G, too!

LG Revolution review

LG Revolution review

“4G” can mean a lot of things these days. For some carriers, it started out as marketing speak that did little beyond confusing customers. For others, 4G represents a next-generation network that might help ease the strain of a new breed of data-hungry smartphone users that have brought a nationwide 3G network to its knees. But while certain carriers were busy lobbying the International Telecommunications Union or launching crafty marketing campaigns, Verizon Wireless launched the fastest cellular network U.S. consumers have ever seen. On May 26th, Verizon released the LG Revolution and gave its subscribers their third 4G smartphone option. Does LG’s first 4G LTE phone address the shortcomings of Verizon Wireless’ earlier offerings? Read on for the full review.

HTC DROID Incredible 2 review

HTC DROID Incredible 2 review

The DROID Incredible 2 recently landed on Verizon Wireless, and it has some tough shoes to fill. When the original launched, it was BGR’s favorite Android phone to date despite stiff competition from the Motorola DROID, which launched at the same time. The DROID Incredible 2 packs some decent hardware, like a 1GHz processor, an 8-megapixel camera capable of recording 720p video, and more, but its specs — and data speeds — don’t match those of phones at the higher end of Verizon’s portfolio. Is the DROID Incredible 2 a worthy successor to the original or does it fall short? Read on to find out!

Verizon’s Motorola DROID X2 now available for $199.99

Verizon’s Motorola DROID X2 now available for $199.99

The Motorola DROID X2 from Verizon Wireless, just announced yesterday, is now available on the carrier’s website for $199.99 with free overnight shipping. It won’t be in Verizon stores until May 26th, but we’ve confirmed that you should be able to pick up a DROID X2 in Best Buy retail locations now. While we’re a bit disappointed that the DROID X2 doesn’t stray far from the original DROID X’s industrial design, the phone packs some beefier hardware. For one, it’s the first smartphone on Verizon’s shelves to offer NVIDIA’s 1GHZ dual-core Tegra 2 chip, and it also comes equipped with a 4.3-inch touchscreen display, and 8-megapixel camera capable of recording HD video, and runs Android 2.3 (Gingerbread) out of the box. Details on Dell Streak Pro 10-inch Android tablet leaked, possible AT&T 4G LTE support in tow

Details on Dell Streak Pro 10-inch Android tablet leaked, possible AT&T 4G LTE support in tow

Rumor has it Dell has a new 10-inch Android Honeycomb tablet up its sleeves, and a few details about it have been leaked. The Dell Streak Pro could offer a 1GHz dual-core NVIDIA Tegra 2 chip — standard fare for Honeycomb tablets these days, it seems — 1GB of RAM, dual-microphones, a 5-megapixel camera, and 2-megapixel camera for video chat. There may be three different models, too, including a 16GB, 32GB, and 64GB version. The hardware sounds nearly identical to what’s available in Samsung’s Galaxy Tab 10.1 tablet, but the Streak Pro is rumored to measure 12.9mm thick — a good deal beefier than the 8.6mm thin Galaxy Tab. The difference, however, is that the Streak Pro could ship with support for AT&T’s 4G LTE network. Rumor has it the Dell Streak Pro could land next month, although that seems like a stretch since AT&T has yet to deploy its 4G LTE network.

Motorola DROID X2 user guide hits the web

The Motorola DROID X2 is definitely taking a page from the DROID Incredible 2′s playbook. That is: we know almost everything about this phone although Verizon Wireless has yet to officially announce it. Bearing that in mind, it should come as no surprise that the DROID X2′s user guide has hit Motorola’s official website. The guide confirms that the X2 will be a dual-core, 1GHz device with a 4.3-inch display and qHD resolution. It also confirms that the handset’s form will be nearly identical to that of the original DROID X; released just one year ago. The DROID X2 has a rumored go-live date of May 26th, although the guide does little to confirm that. Hit the jump to check out the PDF. More →
