The Note 4 is reportedly off to a hot start with 4.5 million sold

There weren’t many smartphones in 2014 that received as much attention as the Galaxy Note 4, but a staggered launch by Samsung might have kept the phablet from breaking any sales records. Korea’s News 1 reports that after a month on the market, Samsung sold 4.5 million Galaxy Note 4 units, 500,000 less than the Note 3 sold in its first month. More →

Samsung explains the Galaxy Note 4’s design in words you’ll never comprehend

Samsung isn’t shy about using rhetorical excess to describe its devices — recall that it once described the Galaxy S4 as “a precious stone glittering in the dark or countless stars sparkling in the night sky,” while it said the Galaxy S III “opens up new horizons and allows you to live your life extraordinarily” by being “enhanced with nature and human emotion.” You’ll be happy to know that Samsung hasn’t toned down its approach when it comes to marketing the Galaxy Note 4, as the company has just written an explanation for its new device’s design that explains why it’s the epitome of “modern sleek.” More →

Samsung hints that a Lollipop upgrade for the Galaxy Note 4 is coming soon

Motorola, HTC and Sony have already mentioned plans to upgrade some devices to Android 5.0 Lollipop, but Samsung, which doesn’t have a great track record when it comes to providing timely Android updates to its devices, has yet to say anything on the matter. However, in a new post on Twitter promoting the Galaxy Note 4 phablet, the company seems to be hinting at a future Lollipop update for the device. More →

iPhone 6 Plus vs. Galaxy Note 4: The ultimate comparison video

This year, Apple and Samsung will compete for the first time ever for phablet buyers’ attention. Apple launched its first 5.5-inch phablet on September 19th, while Samsung followed almost a month later with its fourth-generation big-screen Galaxy Note model. 9to5Mac took a closer look at both the iPhone 6 Plus and the Galaxy Note 4 by highlighting their main features in an extended video. Beginning today, you can finally buy the best phablet on the planet

Apple’s iPhone 6 Plus might be a better all-around product — and it will definitely sell far more units — but as we said in our recent review, the brand new Galaxy Note 4 is the best phablet in the world. The device is without question the most sleek and solid smartphone Samsung has ever made, and its massive quad HD display is positively gorgeous. What’s more, the Note 4 actually makes use of that giant display with awesome multitasking features and the S Pen stylus, rather than just making “big screen” a check box, as it is on the iPhone 6 Plus.

The wait has seemed like an eternity thanks to months of rumors leading up to the Galaxy Note 4’s launch, but it’s finally over: Samsung’s new Note goes on sale in the United States beginning today. More →

iPhone 6 Plus vs. Galaxy Note 4: The ultimate camera shootout

BGR reviewed Samsung’s brand new Galaxy Note 4 phablet on Wednesday and in the process, we spent a good amount of time comparing Samsung’s latest and greatest to the new iPhone 6 Plus. 2014 marks the first time Samsung will have to go head to head with Apple in the phablet space, and we already know that the competition is going to be fierce. Apple is selling iPhone 6 Plus units as quickly as its manufacturing partners can build them, and every device Apple sells represents another customer in the comparatively small phablet market that won’t be buying Samsung’s Galaxy Note 4.

While we compared the two devices in a number of important areas, we didn’t spend much time comparing their class-leading cameras. Luckily, a new feature published on Thursday does a great job of just that. More →

Samsung Galaxy Note 4 review

It’s certainly open to debate, but I would argue that the Galaxy Note 4 is the most important flagship smartphone Samsung has ever launched. It won’t be Samsung’s fastest-selling phone and it definitely won’t ship the most units over its lifespan. The Note 4 doesn’t even necessarily break new ground like the original Galaxy Note did two years ago.

But 2014 marks the first time ever that Samsung will go up against Apple in the phablet space it helped pioneer, and whether or not Samsung’s Note 4 sales show continued growth could be a telling sign of things to come. More →

The Galaxy Note 4 smokes the iPhone 6 in a blind camera comparison

Apple’s reign as the maker of the world’s best smartphone camera may be short lived. Although the iPhone 6 and the iPhone 6 Plus have both earned wide acclaim for their high-quality cameras, it looks like Samsung has similarly hit one out of the park with the camera for its Galaxy Note 4 phablet. PhoneArena snapped several pictures with several flagship smartphones and asked its readers to vote on which pictures looked the best without telling them which device took which picture. The results were a clear win for the Galaxy Note 4, although the iPhone 6 still finished better than the other flagship phones used in the survey. More →

Galaxy Note 4 hasn’t even launched and it’s already received a major update

Even though Samsung has yet to launch the Galaxy Note 4 in most markets it plans to bring its next-gen phablet this month, the company has apparently already identified some potential issues with the smartphone and has released a software update to fix them. According to SamMobile, firmware update XXU1ANJ4 is the update in question and it is expected to bring a variety of fixes, of which significant battery life improvement seems to stand out. More →
