You now have 10,000 more chances to get the smartphone of Android fans’ dreams

The OnePlus One might not have the best smartphone name you’ve ever seen, but just about everything else about it is tremendously appealing — especially if you’re a hardcore Android fan. The handset runs a heavily customized version of Android known as CyanogenMod, and it’s just begging to be hacked to your heart’s content. It also features a sleek design, surprisingly solid specs and an off-contract price that starts at just $299.

The problem, of course, is that it’s incredibly difficult to purchase a OnePlus One because the phone is in such high demand. Now, however, OnePlus is giving Android fans 10,000 more chances to buy a One. More →

OnePlus’s latest marketing stunt is a disaster in the making

Congratulations, OnePlus: You’ve managed to create a marketing stunt for your phone that’s even worse than HTC’s ill-advised $1 billion Robert Downey, Jr. campaign and your own “smash your phone” campaign. OnePlus on Tuesday took the wraps off of a new promotional contest called “Ladies First” that invites female OnePlus fans to “draw a OnePlus logo on a piece of paper or your hand/face/wherever” and then to post it to a thread on OnePlus’s website.  More →

How To Buy OnePlus One

This is your best chance yet to get your hands on a OnePlus One… but you’d better hurry

This is your best chance yet to get your hands on a OnePlus One… but you’d better hurry

Among Android enthusiasts, the OnePlus One is easily the most desirable new smartphone of 2014 so far. It doesn’t have the 2K display from LG’s G3, the gorgeous metal build from the HTC One (M8) or the massive marketing budget backing Samsung’s Galaxy S5, but it’s a cutting edge smartphone powered by the highly hackable CyanogenMod software. What’s more, it’s shockingly affordable.

The only problem, of course, is that it’s still almost impossible to buy one. But thankfully, OnePlus just gave hopeful prospective One owners their best chance yet to get their hands on one. More →

The OnePlus One is a battery-friendly beast

The OnePlus One may be a tough find for smartphone buyers, but the phone apparently performs great in the wild, with Phone Arena revealing the flagship #NeverSettle phone is capable of offering impressive battery life. In its battery tests, the OnePlus One came in second, lasting only five minutes less than Sony’s Xperia Z2, and significantly longer than other flagship devices from the competition, including the Galaxy S5, the G3 or the HTC One (M8). You still can’t buy a OnePlus One, but here comes the OnePlus Two

The OnePlus One was delayed in one market for the worst possible reason

The highly coveted OnePlus One Android handset is yet to reach buyers in Europe, Android World reveals, as the company apparently acknowledged a critical design error that lead to its One stock being halted at customs – and it’s apparently a rather silly error. This new delay follows another recent issue, when OnePlus was forced to delay shipments in order to address a critical software issue. More →

This is the only way you can buy the world’s most exciting Android phone

For hardcore Android fans, no smartphone on the planet is more exciting and intriguing than the OnePlus One. Based on CyanogenMod software, the One is powerful, affordable and probably more tweakable than any other Android phone on the market. It’s also practically impossible to buy. OnePlus is a small company and it’s simply not equipped to handle the demand among Android enthusiasts for its new phone. In an effort to manage all of that demand, OnePlus is currently offering 2,500 invites to purchase a OnePlus One.

If you thought getting one was going to be easy, however, think again. More →

Don’t dunk the OnePlus One in water, no matter what you see on YouTube

The OnePlus One has taken on a mythical quality, mostly due to the fact that it’s almost impossible to buy, but there are some very real limits to its perceived powers. Android Police has noticed that there’s a new video making its rounds on YouTube that shows the OnePlus One being dunked into a few centimeters of water and held there for a little more than 10 seconds before being pulled out completely unscathed. Although this video, which now has more than 50,000 views, seems to suggest that the OnePlus One is waterproof, the reality is that it’s not. More →

In-depth video review shows you all of the OnePlus One’s best features

We’d love to review the OnePlus One ourselves… except the device is almost impossible to come by and even one person who thought that he’d gotten one only wound up with an empty box. However, Marques Brownlee has been lucky enough to get his hands on this semi-mythic device and he’s just posted a thorough video review showing off the OnePlus One’s best features. More →
