High-resolution renders show us what the iPhone 7 Plus will probably look like

Many iPhone 7 buyers are already disappointed that Apple’s 2016 smartphone line will apparently look almost exactly the same as last year’s iPhones, thanks to the plethora of leaks we’ve seen so far. In case you missed it, this leak is probably our first look at a real iPhone 7. Numerous schematics have also firmed up the idea that the iPhone 7 will be a more refined version of the iPhone 6s, but not a radical design overhaul – and that’s really not a bad thing, no matter how bored you might be with smart rectangles with touchscreens.

But schematics and leaked components don’t tell the whole story. Thankfully, high-resolution renders and a video created using the information in these iPhone 7 leaks have come to the rescue, offering us a sneak peek of what the iPhone 7 will almost certainly end up looking like. More →

New photo leak shows big differences between iPhone 7 and 7 Plus

The barrage of iPhone 7 leaks and rumors continues with a new set of images from Asia that show not only schematics for the upcoming devices, but also metal molds that will reportedly be used in the phone’s manufacturing process. The new images seem to further reinforce some of the rumors we’ve read before; in particular, it looks like the 5.5-inch iPhone 7 Plus (Pro) will be the only version of the upcoming lineup to pack a dual rear camera.

iPhone 7 already shaping up to be Apple’s most successful model yet

A new report from Taiwan’s Economic Daily (via Barrons) suggests that the upcoming iPhone 7 will be the monster hit Apple needs to help worried analysts forget about the current lull in iPhone 6s sales. According to the report, Apple has already asked component suppliers to prepare for a production target in the 72 to 78 million range, making it the “highest production target in about two years.”

Alleged iPhone 7 case photos show a brand new feature no one wants

Alleged iPhone 7 case photos show a brand new feature no one wants

The latest iPhone 7 rumor suggests that there may be a few more changes to the device’s final design than initially anticipated. According to a new set of images which purport to show the device’s rear casing, it appears that the iPhone 7 may feature a grand total of four speakers.

Originally published by Nowhereelse.fr, the alleged iPhone 7 photos vary a good deal from previous leaks we’ve seen over the past few months. While some of the antenna lines have been mercifully removed — consistent with previous rumors — you’ll note that the camera module and the LED flash have been reoriented vertically rather than horizontally. The leaked photos also support the persistent rumor that Apple’s next-gen smartphone will ship without a traditional 3.5mm headphone jack.

But there’s also a curious new feature shown in the photos that suggest they might not accurately reflect the upcoming iPhone’s new design.

The Galaxy Note 6 and iPhone 7 might be in for a huge RAM upgrade

We often talk about the performance of mobile devices, insisting on real life tests that show how the hottest smartphones in town perform during regular usage. These are, after all, our main computers. And we want them to be fast, reliable, and efficient. The iPhone is still the performance benchmark to beat, with Galaxy flagships fighting for second place. The upcoming generation of smartphones from Apple and Samsung promise to be faster and more efficient than ever. And, ironically, it’s Samsung that’s going to help do that. More →

iPhone 7 A10 Chip

Is this the chip that will power the iPhone 7?

Is this the chip that will power the iPhone 7?

The iPhone 6s is the fastest smartphone you can buy today, thanks to a combination of hardware innovation and software optimization. Driving performance is a fast and energy efficient chip, the Apple A9, built by TSMC and Samsung. But the future of the Apple chip – and all mobile chips that will power high-end Android handsets in the following year – is even brighter.

ARM and TSMC have announced a 10nm FinFET test chip that shows “impressive power and efficiency gains relative to TSMC’s 16FinFET+ process technology.” That chip will likely be the basis of the Apple processor that will power future iOS devices. The question is, will TSMC make the 10nm in time for the iPhone 7 launch? Or will we see it only in iPhone 7s (or iPhone 8) next year? More →

Report that iPhone 7 is ‘more complex’ to build hints at exciting new features

Some iPhone fans are already unhappy to hear that the iPhone 7 might be strikingly similar to the iPhone 6s when it comes to overall design. Apple trained us to expect fresh iPhone designs every two years, and recent leaks suggest that might not happen this year. But that’s not a bad thing. In fact, a new report says that the iPhone 7 might be “more complex” to build than any of its predecessors, which sounds like great news and could hint that we can expect some exciting new features in tow. Apple reportedly starts iPhone 7 production with three new models incoming

Until recently, most iPhone 7 rumors suggested Apple will stock three distinct models this year, including 4.7-inch and 5.5-inch models that would be identical aside from screen size, and then a separate 5.5-inch iPhone 7 Pro with a dual lens rear camera and other premium features. But then a new report from a trusted insider a few days ago said that Apple would equip all 5.5-inch iPhone 7 models with a dual lens camera, suggesting there won’t be any Pro version of the upcoming phablet.

But now, a new leak seems to indicate that iPhone 7 production has started and that Apple is indeed making three different phone versions. More →

To make the iPhone exciting again, Apple has to launch… an Android phone?

It’s time to make Apple great again!

We have arrived at an interesting chapter in the story that is Apple. Sure the company is still pulling in far more money than any of its rivals, but the period of rapid growth that we all knew was unsustainable has finally come to an end and Wall Street is flipping. Of course when Wall Street flips, the media follows closely behind. One quick glance at Apple headlines right now and you’d think the company was on the verge of bankruptcy once again.

So where do we go from here? More →

These 3D models likely show us exactly what the iPhone 7 will look like

Apple’s next-generation iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus are still months away from being announced, and Apple could really use a hit in light of all the negativity following the company’s March-quarter earnings. iPhone sales have fallen off a cliff so far this year, since there was simply no way the iPhone 6s was going to keep up with the sales pace set by the prior year’s model. With the iPhone 7, Apple will look to boost sales with new features and a new design.

And now, it appears as though that new design is no longer a mystery. More →
