Nexus 9 Folio Cover Review

Is this the future of productivity? Hands on with the Nexus 9 keyboard cover

Is this the future of productivity? Hands on with the Nexus 9 keyboard cover

By on December 4, 2014 at 12:26 PM.

I was a big fan of the Nexus 9 tablet when I reviewed it back in November. In fact, I said that unless you need the awesome productivity features afforded by the Galaxy Note 10.1, the Nexus 9 is likely the only Android tablet you should consider buying.

At the time, I also briefly mentioned a nifty optional accessory called the Keyboard Folio. It was only mentioned briefly because it wasn’t available back in November, but now Google has sent a unit to me for review and I was finally able to spend a significant amount of time with it.

Does this $130 keyboard cover tip the scales in Google’s favor when it comes to productivity? More →

Android fans looking to buy a discounted tablet on Black Friday or Cyber Monday should consider ignoring the extremely cheap ones available from a variety of retailers — which might come with built-in security threats — and go for a Nexus 9 instead. Google’s latest Nexus tablet is not as affordable the Nexus 7 models before it, but the device proposes high-end features which might make up for the difference in price. More →

The holidays are almost here: These are the best tablets you can buy

The holidays are almost here: These are the best tablets you can buy

By on November 25, 2014 at 9:55 AM.

When Apple’s iPad first started blowing up and other consumer electronics companies rushed to copy it, tablets were seen as the next huge growth market. Fast-forward to 2014 and we’re already seeing sales growth slow to a crawl. For many, tablets are nonessential devices and they also don’t needed to be upgraded as frequently as a smartphone, so it makes sense that the market for slates is much smaller.

Of course, tablets are still fantastic devices for millions of consumers out there. They also still make great holiday gifts, so here are the five best tablets on the market. More →

Uh-oh: It looks like the Nexus 9 might have a ‘Bendgate’-like flaw of its own

Breathe easy, Apple: Your high-end devices aren’t the only ones that are coming under heavy scrutiny. Ars Technica’s Ron Amadeo has posted a GIF on his Google+ page that shows how the rear shell of the new HTC-manufactured Nexus 9 can be easily dented in the middle with minimal pressure applied. You can get a brand new Nexus 9 right now for just $199 (half price!)

BGR reviewed the brand new Nexus 9 tablet on Monday and we didn’t beat around the bush. While we recommend you read the full review for a closer look at the good and bad aspects of Google’s new Nexus 9, we basically called it the best Android on the market for a number of key reasons. Google and HTC did a tremendous job of building a premium tablet with solid materials, great specs and the perfect size to make it both portable but still great for watching videos and being productive.

And now, despite the fact that the Nexus 9 was released just yesterday, you can already buy a brand new one for just $199 — which is an incredible half off the tablet’s regular price. More →

Google Nexus 9 review

By on November 3, 2014 at 1:00 PM.

Two years ago in 2012, Google saw an opening in the tablet market for a small, low-cost device that still offered good performance and a solid display. To this day, the Nexus 7 remains a fan favorite among Android enthusiasts and while Google no longer sells the tablet itself, the second-generation Nexus 7 can still be purchased from some retailers for under $200.

Now, of course, affordable mid-range Android tablets are a dime a dozen.

Ironically, the flood of low-cost Android devices that washed over the tablet industry has left a new gap in the market that Google is now looking to address with the Nexus 9. The company’s first bet in the tablet market landed it with a relative success that other companies rushed to compete with, and now it’s time to see if lightning can strike twice. More →

Nexus 9 vs. iPad Air 2

Nexus 9 not supposed to be an iPad Air 2 killer, just a template for one

Nexus 9 not supposed to be an iPad Air 2 killer, just a template for one

Google this year announced a hight-end new Nexus tablet that’s closer in size to Apple’s iPad Air flagship, but also when it comes to performance and price. However, the company doesn’t see the Nexus 9 as an iPad Air 2 killer, even though it announced it just before Apple unveiled its own 2014 iPads. Instead, it’s supposed to be just a model Google hopes other Android tablet makers will follow when they build the upcoming iPad killer, according to Engadget. More →

iPad Air 2 vs. Nexus 9 Benchmark

The iPad Air 2 just beat the only other tablet worth looking at

By on October 23, 2014 at 11:20 AM.

The iPad Air 2 just beat the only other tablet worth looking at

The first iPad Air 2 benchmarks suggested earlier this week that Apple’s latest flagship tablet is even more powerful than initially believed, even though it didn’t manage to outscore the Surface Pro 3, Microsoft’s tablet/laptop 2-in-1 device. However, more benchmark test results have surfaced since then, revealing the iPad Air 2 beats in tests the only brand new iPad rival that matters. More →
