Giving away free TVs with each purchase is one way to keep Galaxy S7 sales up

Samsung shipped more than 81 million smartphones in the most recent quarter, according to market research firm Gartner. The company’s successful flagship smartphone launch was obviously a big driver for Samsung in the first quarter as it enjoyed its fastest profit growth in three years. Samsung’s Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge are clearly the sleekest and most powerful smartphones the company has ever launched, but they also got a helping hand from some serious advertising and marketing campaigns. On top of that, sales were no doubt bolstered by the fact that carriers were offering buy-one-get-one campaigns before the new flagship phones even launched.

Samsung reports fastest growth in three years following Apple’s big miss

Remember how Apple got a little crafty and bulked up its holiday quarter by playing around with the iPhone 6s launch? Well guess what happened when Samsung shifted its Galaxy S7 launch earlier in the year — you got it, a big performance boost in the first quarter. Hot off of Apple’s first ever quarterly decline in iPhone sales, Samsung reported first-quarter earnings on Thursday morning that showed a healthy 14% rise in profit. The company had strong Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge shipments to thank for the performance boost, which marked Samsung’s strongest profit growth in three years. More →

Samsung really wants you to know that its latest iPhone copy doesn’t copy the iPhone

Pink Gold. Pink Gold, Pink Gold, Pink Gold. Pink. Gold.

Samsung on Wednesday announced that its flagship Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge smartphones now come in a brand new color. And it’s not Rose Gold. We promise. It’s Pink Gold. Pink! Just look at the images below and you’ll see that the color of this phone looks absolutely nothing like Rose Gold, which had only been seen limited-run smartphones until Apple added the color to its iPhone lineup. World’s two best flagship Android phones face off in real-world performance test

In our in-depth HTC 10 review, we made it clear that HTC’s new flagship handset is one of the best smartphones on the planet. In fact, it’s the most powerful phone in the world by a wide margin. There’s just one problem with the HTC 10: You can’t buy it yet.

The new HTC 10 is here, but the Galaxy S7 might still be the world’s best Android phone

Released a few weeks ago, the Galaxy S7 was lauded in reviews, which concluded the phone is Samsung’s best Android handset to date, and one of the best smartphones of the year – if not the best. We noted in our newly published review that the HTC 10 certainly gives Samsung’s flagships a run for their money, but a new report now says that the Galaxy S7 has already been named the best phone in various European markets, including the U.K., France, Spain, Belgium and the Netherlands. Samsung is fixing the biggest problem with the Galaxy S7 edge

Samsung is fixing the biggest problem with the Galaxy S7 edge

The new Galaxy S7 edge is my favorite Android phone ever. In fact, it’s my favorite phone period in terms of hardware. In just a few short years, Samsung has gone from selling cheap-feeling plasticky flagship smartphones to building smartphone hardware that is absolutely best in class. Combine that with a gorgeous 5.5-inch Super AMOLED display in a shockingly compact form factor for a phablet, and you’ve got a recipe for success.

No phone is perfect though, and the S7 edge definitely ships along with some annoying issues. Thankfully though, a new update will fix the biggest complaint many users have with their new Samsung phablets. More →

You can now buy the faster version of Samsung’s Galaxy S7 with better battery life

Whichever version of the new Samsung Galaxy S7 or Galaxy S7 edge you purchase, you’re getting an amazing smartphone. The new S7 and S7 edge feature best-in-class performance, a display that will knock your socks off, the best smartphone camera in the business, and a design and build quality that are outstanding. Oh, how I wish I could ditch my iPhone and switch to a Galaxy S7 myself. But alas…

If you’re not chained to iOS like I am, the Galaxy S7 or S7 edge are definitely the way to go right now. But as it turns out, not all models are created equal. If you buy an S7 from your carrier or from a big retailer like Best Buy, you’re getting the model that’s slower and has worse battery life. Luckily, the global model is now available unlocked in the U.S. at a discounted price. More →

Real-world performance test proves U.S. version of Galaxy S7 is slower

Samsung’s chip fab division manufactures both Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 820 processor as well as Samsung’s own Exynos 8890 chipset. Of course, it only designed one of those two chips, and it appears as though the company did a far better job of optimizing its own silicon for the new Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge than the chip from its San Diego, California-based partner.

A new real-world performance tests conducted recently shows yet again that Samsung’s international Galaxy S7 and S7 edge models outperform their U.S. counterparts, which are powered by Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon chip. More →
