The best evidence yet that Apple is finally ready to mass produce the iWatch

We’ve heard so many wildly contradictory reports about Apple’s iWatch over the past several weeks, although we feel confident in saying that the company’s first wearable device is going to release later than the iPhone 6, which is expected to be unveiled on September 9th. 9to5Mac’s Mark Gurman has gotten his hands on some new documents related to Apple partner GT-Advanced Technologies’ sapphire production plant that indicate Apple is at long last getting ready to start mass producing the iWatch. New report claims Apple might delay the iWatch until 2015

What if it turns out that the biggest reason that we haven’t see any leaked pictures of the iWatch is that the device really may not exist in any kind of final form yet? MacRumors has snagged a copy of the latest note from KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, who now says that he wouldn’t be surprised if Apple delayed releasing the iWatch all the way until 2015. Apple iWatch Sales Projection

Why the iWatch is riskier for Apple than you think

Why the iWatch is riskier for Apple than you think

So we’re now pretty certain that Apple will release its iWatch… well, sometime before the end of the year. In the buildup to its release, many analysts have been predicting some absurdly high sales numbers in the iWatch’s first year — remember Morgan Stanley analyst Katy Huberty’s bold projection that Apple could sell as many as 60 million (!) iWatches in its first 12 months on the market. It goes without saying that there are good reasons to be skeptical of such sales projections, especially when you consider that the iWatch actually looks like a pretty risky endeavor from Apple’s perspective. Massive increase in R&D spending suggests awesome new Apple products are on the way

It’s been a long time since Apple had anything to prove in the mobile world, but as iPhone iterations have become increasingly indistinguishable from one another, the Cupertino crew realized it might be time to catch up with the rest of the industry. And catch up they will — this year’s iPhone 6 display is expected to stretch to 4.7 inches and its phablet counterpart might feature an enormous 5.5-inch display. More →

There’s no Swatch in your future iWatch

Apple is widely expected to launch at least a couple of different iWatch models this fall, that will be laden with many sensors for fitness and health purposes, and connect to iPhones for notifications and other data. While VentureBeat has learned from sources in the know that Apple has bigger smartwatch plans than that, as the company is working with famed watch giant Swatch on releasing several other iWatch models, the Swiss company told Bloomberg that it doesn’t plan to work with Apple on the iWatch. Surprise: You can have an ‘iWatch’ right now

Apple’s upcoming first foray into the emerging wearables market is expected to launch this coming October, and numerous reports suggest it will be called the “iWatch.” With a focus on notifications as well as health and fitness tracking, the device will seemingly be a lot like smartwatches that are already on the market, but likely with some added design flair that only Apple can deliver. Of course, there will hopefully also be some extra functionality mixed in, considering the fact that current smartwatches don’t offer very much in the way of truly compelling features.

But if you happen to have an Android Wear watch already or if you’re buying one soon, you don’t have to wait to get an “iWatch.” More →
