Good news, Apple fans: Apple will livestream next week’s big iPad event

New iPads? Yes. New Macs? Almost certainly. New software? Get ready for Yosemite. New iPods? Precious few people still care at this point, so we’re not sure it matters. Whatever the case may be, we can expect plenty of new products to be shown off during next week’s big event as Apple unveils the rest of its product lineup for 2014. The iPad Air will be refreshed, according to several recent leaks, and we might see an updated iPad mini as well. Beyond that, several computers in Apple’s Mac lineup are due for updates, and Yosemite should finally get a firm release date.

And for Apple fans, the best news might be the fact that you’ll be able to watch all of the action unfold live. More →

This is how an Apple fanboy and former employee introduced his baby to the world

One of the things Apple is known for is its attention to detail especially when it comes to crafting marketing materials that sell its devices, including the elaborate “show” Apple puts on its website for highlighting the main features of a newly announced product. And what better way for a former Apple employee Andreas Kleinke to introduce to his baby boy to the world than by replicating Apple’s iPad mini page and replacing the tablet with his own mini, Jonathan Henry. How to save $200 on a brand new iPad

As Apple gets ready to release its second-generation iPad Air, a third-generation iPad mini and its next-gen iPhone 6 handsets, we can expect to see some solid sales pop up for current iPhone and iPad models. It makes sense, of course — with all of that new inventory about to hit store shelves, Apple’s retail partners are looking to clear out older models before the shine completely wears off. Now, those looking for a new iPad mini or iPad Air tablet who don’t find Touch ID and a new, less reflective display terribly appealing might have just gotten the kick they need to finally pull the trigger and buy one.

iPhone 6 and next-gen Retina iPad mini rendered by design master

By on July 21, 2014 at 10:10 AM.

We have seen dozens of dummy mockups of Apple’s next-generation iPhone 6 over the past few months, and the odds are very good that we can expect Apple’s actual iPhone 6 to resemble them when it launches sometime this fall. But according to a recent report from Nikkei, which has a very good track record when it comes to Apple’s unreleased devices, these iPhone 6 mockups feature a massive design flaw compared to Apple’s real next-generation smartphone that will completely change the look of the device.

Thankfully, we can now see what Apple’s iPhone 6 might look like without that big flaw, courtesy of one of the best in the business. More →

New leak may be our first look at the next-gen iPad mini

The biggest two items on Apple’s fall release schedule are going to be the iPhone 6 and the yet-to-be-seen iWatch, but we shouldn’t forget that the company’s popular tablets are due to get new models as well. MacRumors directs our attention to a new picture published at Taiwanese website Apple.club.tw that shows a mockup of the iPhone 6 sitting on top of what appears to be the next-generation iPad mini and the next-generation iPad Air. MacRumors notes that we really can’t tell very much about the new iPad mini from the leaked picture although it does seemingly show that Apple’s newest mini tablet will indeed have the Touch ID fingerprint scanning system that was first unveiled with the iPhone 5s. Crazy 4-inch iPhone that unfolds into an iPad mini reportedly being tested

Apple may be working on a few wild prototypes, Jefferies analyst Peter Misek wrote in a research note to investors, including a 4-inch OLED iPhone that transforms into an iPad mini. Apparently, Misek got wind of various Apple prototypes from Asian suppliers, although MacRumors suggests the company might keep such prototypes close to the chest, producing them in-house or in very small quantities by certain partners.
