what is the price of the new kindle
Here’s what the Kindle people need to do: Lower the price of the Kindle 2. What money we already spent on the original Kindle should have covered the cost of getting the new Kindle made, marketing and sold. Keep the weight the same, maybe increase the screen size. Use flat buttons (not round) with darker letters on them. Have “Prev” and “Next” buttons above the letter buttons for turning the pages and leave the sides of the Kindle free so we can hold it better. Put the power cord hole at top like the iPhone so we can read while it charges if we want. Speaker should be on front, not back. Volume should be on front (maybe top) so it isn’t bumped accidently if the Kindle is close to you. Contine with no back light as we DO want this to look like print in a book and backlighting causes major eye strain. Make a strong lightweight aluminum cover for it so it doesn’t get damaged if dropped. Put a pullout (like the old picture frames) on the Kindle back so it can be set on a table to read. Do away with the wheel and use “tap” to select which involves having a touch screen. That’s a MUST! I find I get annoyed using the Kindle because after having used my iPhone 3G I find myself tapping, flicking and trying to stretch the screen on the Kindle and of course it’s not designed for that, but SHOULD be. Having content saved at Amazon is great but using larger SD cards like 16GB (about $39.) and loading them up is better in that you can have many, many books at your disposal when it’s placed in the Kindle, plus they can also be saved on your computer for future use. I believe there’s also a 40GB SD card so one card would be all you’d need. If they do away with the SD card the Kindle would be limited in what amount can be stored on it. The Kindle is great because it does away with the awful “dust mites” lurking on books plus the space they take up and the ink and paper they’re made of smells awful. A big plus, no more dusting! eReaders are great. They just need to be light weight, easy to hold and use, download books fast, have lots of memory and lastly, an affordable price. The Kindle people need to team up with the iPhone people and combine these two products and Wow, we’d have a mini pc, phone, eReader, email, MP3 player, memory storage, audiobook, app store, web browser, etc, etc, etc all in one! Hey, get crackin’ on that guys. We want it ALL and NOW! Keep it SMALL…size does matter…lol.
I just don’t like the back of the new version, it’s ugly.
As a retired English teacher, I don’t have much money to waste. Is this reader worth the money?
What is the cost per book?
the back looks like an ipod
it also look fake
Is this really the best design they could come up with, visually speaking? Look at Apple products if you’re really clueless – the new Ipod has a curved body, so that it’s easier to hold and thinner then ever. Lets apply that. Then lets look at some of the phones that are popular today. How are they shaped? Could we do a reader with a foldout or pop out key board? Do we really need it visible all the time? Or maybe the bottom portion could be a touch screen, so that there weren’t even buttons and this big block of white at the bottom to detract from a sleek appearance. After all, if the point is to read on the device, the screen should be as big as possible. Finally, if we’re worried about accidentally page flips, would a hold switch make sense, like we use on MP3 players? if it’s conveniently located, it would be easy to use while reading a page, then undo to flip and turn it back on. The trick would be doing it so it could all be done one handed.
Anyway, I still think this is pretty ugly. Sony’s device is more attractive, but I like the live web feed available on the kindle. Over all, I’ll probably wait to buy one until they are better looking with all the good features….
Thank you for sending me this info. Am looking forward for the release of the Kindle 2 and will surely order it from you. Keep me updated. Thanks.
