Samsung announced on Wednesday during its Unpacked event that the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ would begin shipping on April 21st. That’s less than a month from now, but if you want to get your hands on an unlocked version of the company’s latest, greatest smartphone, you’re going to have to wait a bit longer.

Shortly after the event ended on Wednesday, Best Buy revealed that it would begin selling unlocked version of the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ on May 9th — just over two weeks after the phones launch on April 21st. As with all unlocked phones, these devices will be sold without a contract and will work with any carrier you choose to bring them to. Plus, Best Buy appears to be offering a $25 discount off the retail price.

As Droid Life points out

, Samsung has been slow to update the unlocked versions of the Galaxy S7 over the past year. That’s not to say that the same fate will befall the S8 and S8+, but don’t be surprised if it takes a little longer for your phone to get the latest version of Android. It’s something to consider.
