Surrounded by flowers and posing in lingerie on Instagram, Beyoncé announced to the world that she’s pregnant with twins. The photo became viral almost immediately generating a tremendous number of likes that propelled the singer’s new photo all the way to the top of Instagram.
Beyoncé, who has more than 92.7 million followers on the social network generated more than 7.6 million likes in over 17 hours — and the likes keep on coming.
That’s 1.3 million more likes than the previous photo that held the title of most liked on Instagram. That picture belongs to Selena Gomez who got more than 6.3 million likes last year. The difference between the two images is that Gomez’ was a sponsored post for Coca-Cola, while Beyoncé made a personal announcement using the social network.
Beyoncé also beat Gomez when it comes to comments, with her post nearing 380,000 reactions, compared to the over 260,000 replies Gomez received.
“We would like to share our love and happiness. We have been blessed two times over,” the singer said. “We are incredibly grateful that our family will be growing by two, and we thank you for your well wishes. – The Carters.”
