About a year ago, acclaimed director Ridley Scott indicated that there’s a lot of story left to tell in the Alien franchise. In what will ultimately be a trilogy of sequels (which themselves are prequels to the 1979 original), Scott explained at a press conference last year that the planned trio films will address the “very basic questions posed in Alien: why the alien, who might have made it and where did it come from?”
Late last night, 20th Century Fox released a trailer for Alien: Covenant, the next installment in the growing Alien franchise. Set to hit theaters this coming May, the plot of the movie is described in part: “The crew of the colony ship Covenant, bound for a remote planet on the far side of the galaxy, discovers what they think is an uncharted paradise, but is actually a dark, dangerous world. When they uncover a threat beyond their imagination, they must attempt a harrowing escape.”
All in all, this trailer definitely has us excited for Scott’s first film since the award-winning The Martian dropped in 2015.
