Much like Apple’s AirPods, the company’s upcoming BeatsX wireless earphones also appear to be delayed indefinitely. Per an email sent out from authorized Apple reseller B&H Photo Video (via MacRumors), Apple’s BeatsX earphones won’t even begin shipping for another two to three months, at the earliest.

“We regret to inform you that the manufacturer has informed us that they still do not know when they will begin shipping this item but they do know that it will take at least 2-3 months,” the email reads in part.

Originally introduced this past September alongside the iPhone 7, BeatsX earphones feature Apple’s vaunted W1 chip and can deliver an impressive 8 hours of battery life on a single charge. Even more enticing is that a quick 5-minute charge will afford users 2 hours of additional playback.

Apple was originally hoping to get BeatsX earphones out onto stores shelves this fall, but much like Apple’s AirPods, that’s not going to be the case. What remains unclear is why Apple is having trouble getting BeatsX earphones to market. As opposed to Apple’s AirPods which boasts a bevy of new technologies and unique design and engineering challenges, BeatsX earphones, while certainly compelling, don’t appear to be all that different from a conventional pair of earphones.

Given the missing 3.5mm headphone jack on the iPhone 7, Apple undeniably wants its users to embrace a wireless future. That’s all well and good, but Apple might want to get a handle on its lineup of wireless earphones before it can reasonably expect its users to hop on board.
