Less than a week after rolling out the seventh (and final) beta for iOS 10.2, Apple has finally released the final version of the update to the public. As you know if you’ve been keeping track of the betas, iOS 10.2 brings new emoji, new wallpapers, new screen effects and a new TV app to the mobile platform.
Apple pushed out the first developer beta for iOS 10.2 on October 31st. That beta featured the new Unicode 9.0 emoji, a widget for the Videos app and three new wallpapers. Other than that, it was fairly unexciting.
In subsequent betas, Apple added the TV app (originally unveiled during the MacBook Pro event), new screen effects in the Messages app and an Emergency SOS feature that will call 911 in an instant. If you want to update your iOS device to iOS 10.2 immediately, you can do so by heading to Settings > General > Software Update and tapping “Download and Install” at the bottom of the page. As always, you can also apply the update through iTunes, though, fair warning, that does require you to use iTunes.
