Following up on a highly successful Halloween event back in October, Niantic on Monday announced a Thanksgiving event that will begin on Wednesday, November 23rd. Although Niantic isn’t calling it a Thanksgiving event, it does start the day before the American holiday and lasts through the entire weekend.

Throughout the week-long event, everyone who plays Pokemon Go will earn double XP and double Stardust for every in-game action they complete. Catching a Pokemon, evolving a Pokemon, spinning a Poke Stop — if it grants XP or Stardust, you’ll get 2x the normal rewards beginning on Wednesday.

Here’s what Niantic has to say about the event:

“It has been an incredible experience since we launched Pokémon GO a few short months ago in July. We are passionate about creating experiences that encourage exploration and promote exercise. We are humbled that hundreds of millions of you around the world have joined us on this journey. So we would like to say thank you – and what better way to say thank you than to celebrate our community.”

Niantic says that the event will last from November 23rd at 00:00 UTC to November 30th at 00:00 UTC (which translates to 7:00PM ET on November 22nd and 7:00PM ET on November 29th, for those of you on the East Coast).

Still no official word on the addition of Generation II Pokemon from Niantic, but all signs point to a major update coming in the first weeks of December. We’ll be sure to keep an eye out and share any information we come across.
