Several Galaxy S8 rumors have claimed that the upcoming flagship phone will have a brand new design and a variety of new exciting features, including a VR-ready 4K display, a fingerprint sensor embedded in the screen, and a smart Siri-like virtual assistant. But a new report from China now says that 4K isn’t in the cards for the upcoming new Galaxy S phone.

Instead, Samsung will stick with the 2K resolution that’s already found on the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S7 models. There’s nothing official at this time, only Weibo chatter, and it’s unlikely that Samsung will say anything about the Galaxy S8’s display specs in the near future.
The same Weibo leaker, who regularly posts mobile tidbits, said that component makers have not received any orders for a home button that would equip the Galaxy S8. This is seen as evidence that Samsung is ditching the physical button, and appears to be in line with other Galaxy S8 rumors.
Just like Apple, Samsung currently places the fingerprint sensor under the home button. Removing the home button from the next Galaxy S means that Samsung has also figured out a way to place the sensor under the display. A Samsung Display executive did hint a few days ago that the next Galaxy S8 will feature an all-screen design, with the screen taking up more than 90% of the front side of the handset.
Samsung is expected to unveil the Galaxy S8 in February ahead of the annual Mobile World Congress trade show in Barcelona, Spain.
