Rockstar Games has set the gaming world on fire.

After releasing two teasers images for an apparent Red Dead-related announcement earlier this week, the studio officially announced Red Dead Redemption 2 on Tuesday morning. According to the game’s new landing page, the sequel “is an epic tale of life in America’s unforgiving heartland.”

Shortly before the announcement, some sleuthing gamers discovered Rockstar’s parent company Take-Two registered the domain RedDeadOnline.com. Although that URL currently redirects to a post on Rockstar’s Newswire blog, the Red Dead Redemption 2 site says that “the game’s vast and atmospheric world will also provide the foundation for a brand new online multiplayer experience.”

Considering the enormous popularity of Grand Theft Auto V’s online multiplayer mode, it’s not too surprising to learn that Rockstar will attempt to recapture the magic with Red Dead in a brand new setting. Rockstar is still releasing updates for GTAV to this day — we hope to see the same support for RDR2.

The only other information we have is that the sequel will launch on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. There’s nothing on the site indicating that RDR2 will release on PC, but Rockstar typically takes its time porting games from console.

Thankfully, we won’t have to wait long to know more about the next Red Dead. Rockstar is going to debut the game’s first trailer on Thursday, October 20th and 11AM ET. We’ll be sure to share the trailer as soon as it goes live.
