Because it hasn’t taken over enough of our lives already, Facebook is encroaching even further with the release of a new app: Events from Facebook.

According to Facebook, this app will allow users to easily and quickly see any events happening in their area, whether those events are being hosted by Pages they like or whether their friends have expressed interest in attending.

“If you’re looking for something to do this weekend or even right now, you can easily browse event recommendations based on time, location and your interests,” Facebook explains in a blog post. “Explore events happening where you are or in places you like to go using the interactive map. You can also search for events in any city if you’re planning ahead for a trip.”

The app also features a calendar, where you can keep track of all the events you and your friends are planning to attend. You can also sync other calendars from your phone with the Events from Facebook calendar, so if you use Facebook even semi-frequently, Events from Facebook might replace your calendar app.

Even if you decide not to use the app, the actions your friends take on events will also appear on Facebook, so you won’t be out of the loop.

Events from Facebook is available to download on the App Store right now, and will arrive on Android devices soon as well. See a video of the app below:
