When it comes to smartphone allegiance, most consumers up their minds a long time ago. Whether you’re a fanatic or simply set in your ways, chances are that you’re not going to switch from iPhone to Android or vice versa. At least, until a phone so tempting comes along that you have to see what all the fuss is about.

DON’T MISS: Yup, the iPhone 7 crushes Google’s new Pixel phones

That’s exactly what happened for Vipe777, an Android fan on Reddit who decided to switch back to Apple after an impressive streak of nine Android phones in a row. The user notes that his very first phone was an iPhone 3GS, followed by an iPhone 4s, but he then picked up a Samsung Galaxy S3 and never looked back.

Five years and nine phones later (including the LG G3, Droid Turbo and Xperia Z5), Vipe777 decided to see what Apple had been up to since he abandoned the iPhone in 2011. After spending some time with the iPhone 7, the user made his way to the Android subreddit to discuss the experience of switching back.

When it comes to hardware, Vipe777 says that the iPhone 7 takes the cake. Although he admits that the Moto X, the Nexus 6 and the Xperia Z5 were all well-built devices, he says they still don’t have the premium feel of an iPhone.

He also made a point to discuss two of the most controversial features of the iPhone 7 — the capacitive touch Home button and the lack of a 3.5mm headphone jack. Not only did he not have a problem with either of these changes, but he actually seems to prefer the pressure-sensitive Home button to the physical one, calling it “surprisingly real” and “a joy to use.” He wasn’t all too thrilled about the “courage” decision to remove the headphone jack, but he says the adapter works just fine.

After discussing the hardware, he moves on to the differences between iOS and Android software. He says “this is the main reason I switched,” and that “Google is really letting Android users down” by not keeping the OS up to date.

Here’s what he had to say about the overall performance of iOS 10:

“This is easy; iOS (still) beats Android in my experience. It’s actually kinda depressing. The iPhone 6 of my GF (2 years old phone) beats every Android device I’ve used, which sometimes had up to 8 cores, and 3 times as much RAM.”

All in all, despite the fact that Vipe777 isn’t a fan of Apple as a company, he’s glad he switched to the iPhone 7. There’s no question that Android has plenty of features and advantages over iOS that Apple can’t and never will match, but after spending years with Android, some users just need a change of scenery.
