When Paramount Pictures shared the first trailer for Star Trek Beyond, fans were understandably wary. The tone of the action was all over the place, it was impossible to decipher what the movie was actually about and Sabotage by the Beastie Boys simply didn’t fit the feel of the trailer at all.

Two trailers later, the marketing team might have finally hit its stride.

More so than the previous two, the latest theatrical trailer for the third movie in the Star Trek series seems to be taking itself very seriously. Although this movie is sure to be filled with a typical healthy mix of action and humor, Rihanna’s new single Sledgehammer, which is featured prominently in the trailer, brings a surprising amount of weight to the footage:

Here’s the official synopsis of the sequel:

“Star Trek Beyond,” the highly anticipated next installment in the globally popular Star Trek franchise, created by Gene Roddenberry and reintroduced by J.J. Abrams in 2009, returns with director Justin Lin (“The Fast and the Furious” franchise) at the helm of this epic voyage of the U.S.S. Enterprise and her intrepid crew. In “Beyond,” the Enterprise crew explores the furthest reaches of uncharted space, where they encounter a mysterious new enemy who puts them and everything the Federation stands for to the test.

A rather vague description, but at least we haven’t had the whole movie spoiled for us in the trailers. Star Trek Beyond hits theaters on July 22nd, 2016.
