Not even a month since Elon Musk introduced the Model 3 to the world, it’s clear that Tesla already has a huge hit on its hands. Even before anyone had seen Tesla’s mass market EV, Musk boasted that more than 115,000 people put in reservations for the car. Most recently, Musk relayed that the number of Model 3 reservations is now inching closer to 400,000.

Recently, Tesla granted MotorTrend unparalleled access to the Model 3 at the company’s still in-progress Gigafactory. While they obviously weren’t given an opportunity to drive it, they were given special permission to photograph the Model 3 during the day. The only stipulation was that they weren’t allowed to take photos of the interior.

While we typically don’t pay much attention to daytime photoshoots of cars, this is the Model 3 we’re talking about. Not only that, but thus far, the only pictures we’ve seen of the Model 3 have either been at night or promotional shots provided by Tesla.

That being the case, MotorTrend’s time with the Model 3 is well worth taking a look at. All the more so if you happen to be on the fence about whether or not you should fork over $1000 for a reservation.
