Apple’s upcoming iPhone 7 may finally address an issue that iPhone users have been clamoring about for years – mediocre battery life. According to a new report from the Chinese-language website MyDrivers, Apple’s iPhone 7 Plus model may feature a 3100 mAh battery, a marked increase from the company’s iPhone 6s and 6s Plus models which come with 1715 mAh and 2750 mAh batteries, respectively.

While this is undoubtedly encouraging, it’s important to point out that a bigger battery doesn’t necessarily result in improved battery life. On the whole, battery life can be affected by any number of factors, and it’s entirely possible that the larger battery may simply be necessary to account for more power-hungry hardware.

Nonetheless, if there is any inkling of truth to this rumor, it perhaps demonstrates that Apple isn’t oblivious to the bevy of user complaints surrounding iPhone battery life issues. Despite Jony Ive’s seeming obsession with creating thinner devices, iPhone users, for years on end, have all shouted in unison that they’d rather have a device with more robust battery life than a thinner form factor. On a related note, if the only next-gen iPhone to offer improved battery life is the iPhone 7 Plus, it’d be frustrating to see Apple blatantly hinder the overall user experience on other iPhone models in an effort to funnel users to a higher-margined device.

On another front, the report adds that the iPhone 7 Plus may be available with a 256GB storage option. Notably, the report doesn’t address whether or not Apple’s lineup of next-gen iPhone models will still come with 16GB of base level storage. As it stands today, Apple’s flagship iPhone models are available in 16, 64, and 128GB storage capacities.

As for other iPhone 7 rumors we’ve seen emerge over the past few weeks, one rumor that sprang up more recently suggests that Apple’s next-gen iPhone may be waterproof.
