I wrote about my time with Apple’s iPhone 6s Plus back in October, and not much has changed since then. With the iPhone 6s as my main phone now, I still miss some things about the Plus version — mainly that big gorgeous display and the optical image stabilization that helps improve image and video quality. I use my smartphone far too much with one hand to keep the Plus though, and since publishing that post I’ve corresponded with dozens of people who feel the same way.

Well, if you’re willing to do a bit of tweaking, there’s now a solution that will let you keep your Plus-sized iPhone and actually use it comfortably with one hand.

iPhone 6s Plus and iPhone 6 Plus owners may have just found their new favorite app, and it’s called OneHandWizard. Unfortunately, I have good news and bad news.

The good news is that OneHandWizard delivers on its promise, making the iPhone 6 Plus and 6s Plus much easier to use with one hand. In fact, it actually manages to make these huge phones comfortable to use with one hand. But the bad news is that you’ll need to jailbreak your handset in order to install the app.

Here’s how it works: on a standard iPhone 6, 6 Plus, 6s or 6s Plus, a double-touch on the home button triggers what Apple calls “Reachability.” It’s a terrific feature that temporarily shifts the entire display downward so you can easily reach things that are normally too far to touch. In the past, we’ve called Reachability the single most important trick iPhone owners need to know.

With OneHandWizard installed, Reachability is replaced by a new feature that shrinks the entire screen down to a preconfigured size and places it in the bottom corner of the display. This way, for as long as you want, you’ll be able to reach every corner of your display without having to shift your grip or use a second hand. Then, when you want to go back to the standard view, just double-touch the home button again and you’re done.

A video from YouTube user myjailbreakmovies that shows OneHandWizard in action is embedded below, and the app can be downloaded from the Cydia store by following the link on the OneHandWizrard website.
